IKEA has today, Wednesday 14th October, opened its brand-new Plan and Order Point in Aberdeen’s Union Square, marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by its team of 16 co-workers and Jack Middleton, MSP for Aberdeen Central.
Plan and Order Points are dedicated to kitchen, bedroom and living room planning where customers can visit for tailored design consultations to help create their ideal spaces. Customers can book an appointment, free of charge, to start their design journey with one of the Aberdeen store’s planning specialists or use the in-store self-service tools to design their own solution.
The store is packed with inspiration, and customers will find 18 different kitchens to browse, spanning complete solutions to innovative pantry designs that meet the storage needs of all households, as well as an appliance studio. The unit also houses a home furnishing planning area and 16 bespoke PAX wardrobe solutions, each designed to provide inspiration on how to maximise spaces through storage solutions.
At IKEA Plan and Order Points, customers can order from the entire IKEA product range, with the option for free next day collection or home delivery. The store offers a collection area for orders made online, as well as providing a service for customers wanting to return any IKEA purchase.
The new Aberdeen store offers a curated range of 600 home furnishing accessories and small furniture items available for immediate takeaway, including some of IKEA’s most popular products:
- The famous FRAKTA blue carrier bag (£0.75)

IKEA is committed to helping customers create a home they love without stretching their finances. The retailer recently lowered the prices of 435 of its iconic products by up to 25% to support customers facing sustained cost-of-living pressures. Reductions were made across fan-favourites including the iconic BILLY bookcase, HEMNES daybed and POÄNG armchair.
Kevin Coventry, market manager at IKEA, said: “It was fantastic to open the doors of our brand-new Plan and Order Point in Aberdeen this morning, and to welcome our first customers inside. Our new store is designed to inspire, offering customers the opportunity to explore our range of kitchen and storage solutions with options available for every household and budget. Now that we’ve launched, we can’t wait to help more Aberdonians design their dream home spaces.”
Douglas Lumsden, MP for Aberdeen South, said: “I am delighted to welcome IKEA’s new Plan and Order Point in the city centre. It is fantastic to see a global brand like IKEA strengthening its presence in Aberdeen, and the new location will hopefully allow more people to access their products while bringing wider benefits to our local economy.”
Jack Middleton, MSP for Aberdeen Central, added: “It’s great to see IKEA’s new Plan and Order Point opening in Union Square. The investment in Aberdeen, in the new city centre location, is really welcome. Aberdeen is a great place to live, work, and do business, and IKEA’s continued presence really emphasises that.”
IKEA closed its Aberdeen Order and Collection Point in Wellington Square on 1 March as the retailer transitioned to its new planning-led format in Aberdeen city centre, as part of its strategy to bring the brand closer to where the many people live, work and socialise.
The new store bolsters the retailer’s presence in Scotland, complementing existing IKEA stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow, a recently opened Plan and Order Point in Dundee, and in-home planning services available throughout the Inverness area.
IKEA Plan and Order Point Aberdeen will open Monday to Friday 10am – 8pm and Saturday and Sundays 10am – 6pm.
