JD, the leading retailer of sports, fashion and lifestyle brands is set to upscale its presence in Wales with a new addition to Cyfarthfa Retail Space, Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday 25th February 2023.
Re-enforcing its status as the leading trainer and sports fashion retailer in the UK, JD will ensure local residents and shoppers alike are provided with their fix of all their favourite brands including Nike, Adidas, The North Face, Under Armour. The new home for the store will introduce a larger street/fashion range including an extended collection of Hoodrich products, and Mercier will be available to Welsh shoppers for the very first time. In addition, even more ranges across fashion, footwear and accessories, like Fred Perry, Lacoste, Boss, EA7 and Napapijri will be offered, ensuring the store launches bigger and better than before
Cyfarthfa represents the 33rd largest retail venue in the UK, with the retail space attracting 3.6M visitors per annum. The new premise will transform an 8,345 sq. ft ground floor retail space, whilst seeing an increase in store frontage of 13.8m (25.5m vs 11.70m currently) to enable JD to serve its loyal fans more effectively. The enhanced product proposition will be supported by improved store configuration and increased trading space, alongside improved back-of-house, staff welfare facilities and in-store serviceability. The new will also offer more local jobs for the community.
JD is encouraging consumers to head into the new store on the opening weekend from Saturday 25th February (from 10 am – close) to Sunday 26th February (from 11 am to close) to explore the new space. A JD-branded truck will be parked outside the new store, welcoming shoppers and providing free customisation with any footwear purchase across the weekend.
