John Lewis joins BHN Extras to help employees save on home purchases

BHN (Blackhawk Network) Extras has announced that The John Lewis Partnership has joined its employee benefit scheme, Home & Tech.

Through the scheme, employees at participating organisations can shop the John Lewis Home & Garden, and Furniture & Lighting ranges, at a discounted rate, online or in-store. Available from now, this expansion will allow employees to save up to 8% on home purchases at John Lewis, in addition to any existing John Lewis sales or promotions.

The launch comes at a time when financial pressure continues to influence consumer spending. BHN’s Branded Pay Study 2026 found that UK consumers are increasingly focused on managing costs, with nearly half (47%) expecting to use buy now, pay later options to spread spending.

For employers, offering meaningful financial benefits is becoming more important for attracting and retaining talent. BHN research shows that even practical support – such as help with the cost of furniture and home essentials – can improve employee retention by up to 15%.

Peter Dando, senior director of employee benefits at BHN Extras, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The John Lewis Partnership to our Home & Tech scheme. Employees are increasingly looking for ways to manage larger purchases, while employers are under growing pressure to support financial wellbeing. Salary sacrifice schemes like Home & Tech help address both.”

He added: “Our research shows strong demand for cost-spreading solutions, and this partnership expands the choice available to employees purchasing home items.”

Salary sacrifice schemes allow employees to exchange a portion of their gross salary for non-cash benefits, such as home or technology products. This reduces taxable income and enables employees to spread the cost interest-free through payroll, delivering savings on tax and National Insurance.

BHN Extras’ National Minimum or Living Wage solution, NetScheme, ensures every employee, regardless of salary level, can access Home & Tech.
