The Big Scottish Breakfast returns across schools, workplaces and nurseries this September, and STV weather presenter Sean Batty has teamed up with the kids at Pied Piper Nursery in Glasgow to launch the 2026 campaign.

Cereal giant Kellogg’s is supporting the STV Children’s Appeal’s breakfast campaign for the 4th year and will match every £1 raised* up to the total of £50,000. Every penny raised as part of the campaign will fund school breakfast clubs throughout Scotland and help tackle child hunger.
The Pied Piper Nursery – who are regular supporters of the campaign – invited Sean for breakfast with a boogie, where he spent the morning with some mini fundraising heroes, passionate in their support for the campaign, but reluctant in their willingness to share a watermelon…
The long-running campaign encourages people to set aside time on one morning in September, or on a suitable date this year, to enjoy a shared breakfast event with friends, family, colleagues or classmates, to raise vital funds for the STV Children’s Appeal.
Kellogg’s research found that there has been a 73% increased demand for breakfast clubs over the past 5 years. Furthermore, 78% of teachers believe that the role of breakfast clubs in schools will become more important, while the Trussell Trust found that one in four children are growing up with food insecurity, with over 200,000 living in households having no reliable access to food in Scotland.
Kellogg’s has partnered with the STV Children’s Appeal on their Big Scottish Breakfast campaign since 2023. Andrew Ridge, Social Impact Manager at Kellogg’s said: “We’re proud to be supporting the Big Scottish Breakfast for a fourth year, matching each £1 donation to help support even more breakfast clubs across Scotland. For nearly 30 years, Kellogg’s has supported school breakfast clubs up and down the country and teachers tell us that being hungry can have a massive effect on pupils, from their performance and behaviour, and even overall attendance. Supporting school breakfast clubs is vital to ensure children affected by poverty can access a filling meal and head into the classroom ready to learn.”
STV weather presenter Sean Batty said: “That was the best morning I’ve had in a long time, despite one of my new pals threatening to put a watermelon on my head! The Big Scottish Breakfast is the perfect opportunity to support children that need it most across Scotland and I encourage everyone to get involved. Big or small, these events are lots of fun, they bring people together and the money raised makes a real difference.”
Emma Devers, STV Children’s appeal fundraising and events manager, said: “The Big Scottish Breakfast is a firm favourite in our Appeal calendar each year. It’s the campaign where we see so many groups and communities come together, and we’re always amazed by the passion – particularly from the young people we meet, who truly understand why it matters. Our ongoing partnership with Kellogg’s will allow us to reach even more children across Scotland, helping them start their day ready to learn and thrive.”
The Big Scottish Breakfast takes place across Scotland during the month of September. You can download a fundraising pack at stvappeal.tv.
*Kellogg’s Marketing and Sales Company (UK) Limited will match and donate up to £50,000 of funds raised by the STV Children’s Appeal’s Big Scottish Breakfast fundraising campaign in 2026.
