As we bid Glastonbury a farewell for two years with the festival set to take a break for a fallow year in 2026, NEXT are taking a look at the standout looks from the weekend to determine which Glastonbury trends we can expect to see at other festivals over the rest of the summer season.
Searches for ‘Glasto outfit’ and ‘glasto outfit inspo’ increased by 100% on TikTok in the lead up to the festival, a trend likely to occur before each festival this summer. To help give people some outfit inspiration, the NEXT fashion team have pulled together some of the most searched for festival outfit trends along with styling commentary.
Denim on Denim
TikTok searches for ‘denim festival outfit’ have increased by 228% as people embrace the Canadian tuxedo once again.
“This festival season, we’re once again seeing a resurgence of double denim. Also likely to be caused by Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour, currently taking place meaning many looks are taking on a more western feel.
“Festivals are a great opportunity to play around with your look to make it unique to you or wear something bold and out of your comfort zone, whether that be wearing a matching set or mixing different denim washes.”
Short Shorts
TikTok searches for ‘Tiny shorts outfit’ have increased by 397% whilst ‘Ruffle shorts outfit festival’ have gone up by 32% as people try to combine the Brat and Boho aesthetics.
“With the 70s girl vibe also making a comeback this summer, we’ve also seen the resurgence of the short shorts. Seen on the likes of pop girls such as Charli XCX and Addison Rae, the short shorts should be considered a festival staple this year.
“Either used as a base for an outfit or as the feature piece, short shorts are perfect for any festival, especially those taking place during the ongoing heatwaves in the UK. Style with a baby tee for a throwback look or an oversized t-shirt if you prefer something with a little more coverage, and play around with the materials, denim for a western look or ruffled to embrace the boho trend.”
Boho
Arguably one of the biggest trends of the year, TikTok searches for ‘Boho festival outfit’ have increased by 139%.
“It’s no secret that the boho look is back in a big way this year, and festivals are the perfect place to play around with the style if you haven’t done so already. To nail the aesthetic, all you need to do is stick to softer, flowy silhouettes and fabrics like linen, lightweight cotton and lace, and embrace the neutral earth tone colour palette.
“If you’re not sure where to start, the perfect starting piece would be a flowy maxi dress or skirt accessorised with suede boots and plenty of layered jewellery. Or if you want to be more adventurous, try some crochet or lace trousers or even throw on a knitted poncho, these are also set to make a big return over summer.”
Vintage Sportswear
“Vintage sportswear is a great choice if you’d like a look that’s more casual, and it’s perfect for those whose main priority is dancing and staying comfortable. Chunky trainers not only look good but will be your best friend if you are planning on doing a lot of steps, paired with a football shirt or windbreaker, and you will nail the 90s festival vibe”
Slip dresses
TikTok searches for ‘slip maxi dress’ have surged by 1000% and are set to be a summer staple this year.
“If you’d prefer a dressier look this summer, a satin slip should be your outfit of choice. A go-to for people like Dua Lipa and Kate Moss, a slip dress can be dressed up or down depending on the type of artists you’re going to see and the type of festival experience you’re planning to have.
“If you want to take inspiration from previous celeb looks, pair your slip dress with some wellies, an oversized belt and a leather jacket.”
What were the celebs wearing at Glastonbury?
“The overarching theme of celeb style at Glastonbury this year was sleek and simple. Feminine, delicate pieces were everywhere – from Daisy Edgar Jones pairing a silk lace-lined cami with denim shorts and short Hunter wellies to Bel Powley teaming a graphic tee with silk lace-lined shorts and chunky boots. This juxtaposition of soft, girly pieces with structured styles works really nicely at a festival to add interest to an outfit.
“A colour trend we saw lots of amongst A-listers was khaki, often in utilitarian styles and jackets – this was one endorsed by the likes of Billie Piper, Gemma Chan and Mia Regan. This trend pairs perfectly with another seen at Worthy Farm, of wax jackets, donned by Lily Allen and Milly Alcock.”
