The brand shares details of its reusable delivery bags as the UK continues to face high levels of packaging waste.Pretty You London has introduced reusable and returnable packaging through a partnership with Movopack, becoming the first UK nightwear brand to use the system.
The bags have been in use for some time and form part of the brand’s ongoing effort to reduce waste from online orders.
The UK continues to generate large volumes of packaging waste each year, with government data showing that 2.27 million tonnes of plastic packaging waste were generated in 2024, and only 1.15 million tonnes were recycled (Argus/NPWD).
Analysis for LARAC partners also suggests that between December and early January, UK households produce up to 30% more waste than at any other time of year (LARAC).
How the reusable system works
Pretty You London customers receive their order in a reusable Movopack bag designed to last through multiple delivery cycles.
Once the parcel arrives, the customer unpacks their items, folds the bag along the marked lines and attaches the prepaid return label included inside. The bag can then be posted back through any standard postbox, meaning there’s no need to visit a drop-off point or book a courier.
The bags then return to Movopack to be cleaned, checked and prepared for their next journey. Each one stays in circulation for as long as possible, helping to reduce the amount of single-use packaging associated with home delivery. It is a small change to the delivery experience that builds up to a meaningful reduction in waste over time.
Movopack’s data shows that reusing a bag three times can cut its carbon footprint by around half. After twenty uses, the reductions in carbon, water and energy exceed 70% when compared with single-use packaging. This cumulative impact is what makes reuse-led systems a practical and impactful alternative to disposable packaging.
Reflecting on the move towards reusable packaging, Jonathan Cohen, Managing Director at Pretty You London, said:
“We’ve spent a long time developing ranges that use bamboo, EcoVero and recycled fibres, including slippers made with recycled-PET, and we know many customers come to us with sustainability in mind. Reusable packaging allows us to carry that through the whole order. The shift becomes even more meaningful at Christmas, when deliveries peak, and people think more about the impact of what they buy. It’s a small change that reduces waste and keeps the experience consistent with what our customers expect from us.”
The brand says it hopes the move will encourage more retailers to explore reuse in home delivery, especially as online ordering continues to grow.
