Sainsbury’s launches £1 British Strawberries with Nectar Prices

As temperatures rise this bank holiday weekend, Sainsbury’s is turning up the sweetness with punnets of its by Sainsbury’s British Strawberries 250g now available just £1 with Nectar Prices (£2.25 without Nectar, £9/kg), from Saturday 23rd May to Monday 25th May – that’s a berry brilliant saving!

With searches for ‘strawberries’ up +68%1 month-on-month across Sainsbury’s online, it’s clear demand for the seasonal favourite is in full swing, as the better than half price saving rolls out in selected supermarkets and online for a limited time only.

As summer gets underway, Sainsbury’s is working closely with British growers to bring customers great value, delicious, sweet strawberries picked at their best – ideal for picnics, puddings and days in the sun.

Richard Crampton, Sainsbury’s commercial director, fresh and convenience, said: “With warmer days ahead and British strawberries back in season, there’s no better time to enjoy them. This May bank holiday, we’re making it easier for customers to enjoy great quality strawberries at brilliant value with Nectar Prices, working closely with our trusted British growers and long-standing partners to bring the best of the season to our shelves. We know what it takes to grow great British fruit and we work in close partnership with our growers to ensure they have the confidence to invest for the future – that’s how we’re able to deliver great quality, fairly sourced strawberries for customers year after year.”

Looking for inspiration on how customers can enjoy great-tasting strawberries this season? Pile them on a pavlova, add a splash of cream, pop them in a classic Pimm’s, or simply tuck in as they are. They are the perfect way to bring a taste of British summer to any bank holiday spread.

All existing Nectar customers need to do to benefit from Nectar Prices is to scan Nectar at the checkout instore to save. Customers shopping online will have their discounts applied automatically if their Nectar and Sainsbury’s accounts are linked. Those wanting to become a Nectar customer can sign up to Nectar by downloading the Nectar app or visiting www.nectar.com**.
