SAMBAZON secures Tesco listing as frozen aisle demand grows

SAMBAZON SAMBAZONSAMBAZON, the UK’s #1 açaí brand, is significantly expanding its UK retail footprint with the launch of its Scoopable Frozen Açaí in Tesco stores and online nationwide. This strategic move cements SAMBAZON’s market leadership.

Now available in 400 Tesco stores nationwide, the listing marks a pivotal launch for the açaí brand. The UK açaí category is experiencing strong growth2, driven by rising demand for frozen ingredients as convenient everyday staples3. This trend is particularly evident among younger consumers, who are choosing frozen equivalents of fresh items, motivated by their longer shelf life, and convenience4.

SAMBAZON is a key driver of this growth, delivering an impressive 153% UK revenue growth over the past three years. As perceptions of frozen continue to evolve, the category is moving beyond traditional staples and becoming a destination for innovative products that resonate with younger shoppers.

With strong brand awareness and a highly engaged social audience, SAMBAZON is bringing this next generation of shoppers into the freezer aisle. Through close collaboration with retail partners and active digital engagement, the brand is helping retailers connect with younger consumers who might not traditionally shop the category.

This launch further solidifies SAMBAZON’s position as the first-to-market branded açaí in the UK, complementing its existing nationwide distribution in leading retailers, and establishing açaí as a prominent and trusted freezer staple.

Stocking SAMBAZON offers unparalleled versatility, with the product catering to multiple purchase missions, from breakfast and snacking to lunch and dessert. As shoppers often purchase it alongside items like frozen avocado and blueberries, SAMBAZON effectively positions the frozen aisle as a destination for diverse meal solutions.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Tesco to bring our delicious products to even more parts of the UK, especially as the frozen aisle increasingly becomes a destination for consumers,” says Mari Laidlaw, SAMBAZON’s Managing Director for Europe.

“We’ve witnessed a strong and increasing demand for our açaí products, building on our positive experiences with other major retailers. Our consumer-focused approach and digital engagement with younger, socially aware shoppers who use platforms such as TikTok for frozen food ideas, will bring a fresh energy to the frozen aisle.”

The launch will be robustly supported by a comprehensive marketing campaign by SAMBAZON, including an influencer initiative where creators will showcase inventive açaí recipes on their channels. Furthermore, in-store activity will be prominent, with branded freezer fins launching in Tesco from 22nd April, ensuring high visibility and driving consumer engagement at the point of purchase.

The brand’s presence extends beyond retail, with its products already a top-selling item in leading café chains such as Joe & The Juice and Black Sheep Coffee, highlighting widespread consumer acceptance and desire for açaí.

SAMBAZON’s Scoopable Frozen Açaí: (RRP £4.70 / 500ml) is a ready-to-serve pot designed for quick açaí bowls, desserts or snacks without blending. The product is available in the frozen aisle in the brand’s vibrant, high-impact packaging.

SAMBAZONs Scoopable Frozen Açaí is available in Tesco stores nationwide now.
