Tesco serves up thousands of free bowls of Strawberries and Cream as tennis fever and summer heat take hold

Need anything from Tesco? How about free strawberries and cream!

As tennis fever grips the capital and temperatures set to be a scorcher, Tesco are serving up one of Britain’s most iconic sporting traditions for free, with thousands of bowls of strawberries and cream being handed out to fans in Wimbledon this week.

Tesco has turned an ice cream van into a one of a kind ‘Strawberries and Cream Van’, which will pop up in Wimbledon town on Thursday 2nd July and Friday 3rd July. Each day from 11am*, thousands of free portions will be given away fresh from the van.

Passers-by simply need to stop by the van to pick up a complimentary bowl to enjoy in the sun and soak up the atmosphere of the summer of sport.

Callum Baker, Buying Manager of Berries at Tesco, said: “Our customers love strawberries, especially at this time of year. We’re expecting to sell over four million punnets just this week alone; that’s over 1,500 tonnes of strawberries! Strawberries and cream are such an ace doubles pairing, so we’re excited to be able to share that tradition with tennis fans, completely for free.”

The activation is part of the wider ongoing Need Anything From Tesco? campaign which highlights how Tesco shows up for customers in the moments that matter most, from everyday essentials, to spontaneous summer treats like free strawberries and cream.

Location: 122 Wimbledon Bridge, London SW19 1PS (near Wimbledon train station)

Date: Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd July 2026

Time: from 11am each day*
