Ahead of the King’s Coronation on 6th May, Tesco has unveiled a new range of food and homeware to help the nation celebrate like royalty – whether they’re marking the historic occasion, or simply getting together with friends and family to make the most of the long weekend. In addition, Tesco will donate £250,000 from proceeds of the range to The Prince’s Trust, the charity founded by His Majesty The King in 1976, when he was HRH The Prince of Wales, to support young people who face disadvantage and adversity to build their skills and confidence and find employment.
Bring a touch of royalty to lunchtime whether it be at home or on the go, as the new Tesco Finest Coronation King Prawn joins the Tesco Premium Meal Deal selection. The limited-edition sandwich pairs king prawns with a rich and zingy lemon cream cheese, served on an oat and barley farmhouse loaf. Meanwhile, the Tesco Meal Deal will include the classic Tesco Coronation Chicken, combining curry mayonnaise with tender chicken breast, sultanas and spinach on onion seed bread.
A great gift to say thank you to hosts or to tuck into whilst watching the festivities at home, is the Tesco Coronation Tin All Butter Shortbread Petticoat Tails. Delicious all-butter shortbread baked in Scotland housed in a commemorative King Charles III tin, suitable to put on display or as a wonderful keepsake for years to come. Other gifts for friends and family (or oneself) include the Tesco Coronation Jack Russell Door Stop, an adorable Jack Russell wearing his very own crown that will obediently sit and keep a door propped open. Suitable for decorating the sofa, a bed or being cuddled, Tesco has two incredibly soft bears to choose from. The Tesco King Coronation Bear dons a kingly crown and royal cape while the Tesco London Guardsman Bear stands proud in a black bearskin-style cap and scarlet tunic.
The new limited-edition spread includes other sweet treat showstoppers, like the Tesco Finest Coronation Raspberry and Peach Bellini Trifle, a sweet raspberry compote layered with vanilla sponge, Madagascan vanilla custard and a fruity Prosecco and peach curd. The trifle is topped with a Belgian white chocolate mousse and edible crown decorations for a regal finish. Those looking for something more traditional can opt for the Tesco Coronation Celebration Cake, a golden Victoria sponge layered with sweet raspberry jam and filled with buttercream.
Also in store are limited-edition homewares and flowers to complete the occasion. Hosts can serve a majestic afternoon tea with the Tesco Coronation Teapot and Tesco Coronation Cake Stand. Whether it’s tea or coffee, the Tesco Coronation Mug is ideal for pouring a hot drink of choice and sitting back and watching the Coronation in comfort, before using it time and time again.
Alongside the commemorative crockery, those looking to add a subtle touch to their home can add a floral flourish with celebratory bouquets, including the Tesco Royalty Bouquet with red and white carnations, burgundy spray chrysanthemums, burgundy gemini and blue limonium.
The Tesco Coronation range is available online and in store from 17th April.
The donation of £250,000 from proceeds of the range will enable The Prince’s Trust to support more young people to build a brighter future through education, employment and enterprise. Tesco has been a partner of the Prince’s Trust since 2018, with the partnership to date having helped tens of thousands of young people all over the UK to succeed in education and access to training and employment opportunities.
