Shoppers are rushing to get their hands on an £8.50 bottle of award-winning wine from Tesco – but they’ll need to be quick.
Liam D’Arcy, better known to his 121,000 followers as The Wine Wally, has shared his top Tesco wine picks after serving as a judge at this year’s prestigious IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition).
Remarkably, D’Arcy was the first ever non-qualified wine expert invited onto the IWSC judging panel. Over the course of the event, he tasted more than 70 wines – with only seven achieving the coveted Silver Medal.
Among his recommendations is the Tesco Finest Brooks Road Chardonnay (£15, 75cl), made from premium grapes grown in Australia’s acclaimed Margaret River region. The dry white boasts complex notes of stone fruit and vanilla oak, with elegant minerality and a long, balanced finish. Shoppers can also get 25% off when they buy 3 or more bottles.
But the biggest buzz is around a South African Chenin Blanc (£8.50, 75cl), a Silver Medal winner that’s already selling out fast, according to Liam’s content. Dry and aromatic, it offers aromas of apricot, honey and apple, with flavours of ripe pear and subtle hints of vanilla oak.
Speaking about the experience, Liam says: “I was asked to be the first ever consumer wine judge – I tried over 70 different wines, and only seven were awarded a Silver Medal. This Chenin Blanc was one of them, and it’s an absolute steal for the price.”
With shoppers snapping up bottles as soon as they hit the shelves, wine lovers will need to move quickly to enjoy this award-winning bargain.
All wines are available now at Tesco while stocks last.
