350kg food rescued: new Oddbox x Fruits of the Forage chutneys

Oddbox x Fruits of the Forage chutneysOddbox has teamed up with Fruits of the Forage to create a limited-edition line of four small-batch, vegan chutneys. Together, the companies have rescued over 350kg of surplus fruit and veg, either at risk of going to waste due to gluts/demand/shape or foraged from neglected orchards and hedgerows.

Why we love this launch:

  • Rescuing food at risk of going to waste: By transforming surplus farm crops (like British carrots, cauliflower, tomatoes, and rhubarb) into chutneys, we avoid waste and turn it into a longer shelf-life product.
  • Low-impact & local: Sourced from UK growers and blended in small batches in Cheshire, minimising our carbon footprint.
  • Low waste, maximum flavour: Every jar is proof that “wonky” or surplus ingredients are just as delicious, if not more delicious, than what you find on supermarket shelves, and we should all be doing more to eat this!
  • Supporting UK growers: Weather unpredictability and strict supermarket specs leave growers with tonnes of perfectly delicious, yet “unwanted” crops. Oddbox provides a fair, reliable market for these crops so nothing goes to waste.

The Rescued Range (£4.95 individual / £17.99 bundle of 4):

  • Curried Carrot Chutney: Rescued carrots and apples spiced with wild-foraged hogweed and onion.

  • Chilli Rhubarb Jam: Tart British rhubarb paired with red chillies and foraged wild garlic.

  • Tomato & Tamarind Chutney: Juicy rescued tomatoes blended with tangy tamarind and cider vinegar.

  • Best of British Piccalilli: A crunchy mix of rescued cauliflower, carrots, and pickled cucumber in a classic mustard spice blend.

Launch details: Available from 7th August at market.oddbox.co.uk (open to everyone, no Oddbox subscription required!).
