Tassimo is expanding in the hot chocolate category with an innovative new flavour – Tassimo Cadbury Orange Hot Chocolate Pods. Reinforcing its leadership in the hot chocolate category, the limited-edition launch is set to be the brands’ biggest NPD this year and will build on the existing brand success achieved with the Tassimo Cadbury Original Hot Chocolate.
The demand for hot chocolate as a year-round beverage continues to grow with it being the third most consumed drink in coffee shops in the UK this year, having grown from fourth place in 2022. With Tassimo Cadbury Original worth £7 million annually and the number one hot chocolate SKU in the single serve segment, it’s driven growth of hot chocolate in retail by +4% MAT[2]. With an increase in orange-flavoured-chocolate product consumption across multiple categories, and chocolate orange-related search trends increasing by +43% in the last 5 years in the UK[3], Tassimo is now looking to continue driving category growth with the new Chocolate Orange launch.
The product also builds upon the success of Tassimo’s existing partnership with Cadbury, the UK’s #1 FMCG and chocolate brand, to deliver on trusted quality and taste.
Tassimo Cadbury Chocolate Orange has been developed and tested to ensure it meets consumers’ high taste and quality expectations and has exceeded on consumer taste tests. Results revealed a very high overall appeal and purchase interest post-trial, with overall purchase intent at 96%. Customers can enjoy the perfect creamy hot chocolate drink with the delicious Cadbury orange taste – offering the coffee shop experience at home.
Launching in September, the Chocolate Orange pods will be supported by an extensive ATL campaign set to reach 45 million shoppers, comprising of in-store activations, competitions across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and the sponsorship of Ch4 Steph’s Packed Lunch. It will also be on shelves and on displays throughout the festive period and with chocolate orange one of the most popular Christmas flavours, the product provides further consumption occasions and an opportunity for a boost in sales, post initial launch.
