School uniform watch: Trutex reveals the top items parents expect to go missing first

School ties and school jumpers are the first items of uniform to go missing, according to a survey of parents by leading school wear brand, Trutex.

With the new academic year just around the corner, 39% of parents believe that the school tie will be the first item their children lose.

Jumpers rank second, with 23% of parents expecting they will disappear early in the school year.

The PE kit also raised concerns, with 21% of parents anticipating it to be misplaced during the busy academic year.

Easter: huge believers of the ‘wear one, wash one, spare one’ rule

Matthew Easter, Group CEO of Trutex, and dad of two, said: “It’s common for certain items like ties and jumpers to go missing during the school year.

“With the arrival of the back-to-school season, it’s good to consider practical solutions to be prepared.

“Whether you sew, stick or write, putting your child’s name on their clothes means there’s a good chance missing items will find their way back home.

“And, we’re also huge believers of the ‘wear one, wash one, spare one’ rule. Stocking up on items means there’s back up for any mishaps or losses.”

While most parents expect items to go missing, an optimistic 5% believed that none of their child’s uniform would go missing.
