Iceland Foods and Mumsnet have partnered to create a new range of quality meals designed to provide healthy choices for families at affordable prices.
The new Little Explorer ready meals have been taste-tested by the team at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the charity’s child ambassadors, who gave their stamp of approval for flavour, quality, and family appeal.
Priced at just £2 each, 5 pence of each sale will be donated directly to Alder Hey Children’s Charity to support the hospital – one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, and an established UK leader in paediatric research. Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation will then match the total raised up to the value of an additional £50,000.
The five ready meals in the range, including family favourites such as Fantastic Fish Pie, Classic Cottage Pie and Super Spaghetti Bolognese, mark the first time a Mumsnet-branded food product has hit supermarket shelves.
Containing one of your five-a-day, high vegetable content and low salt content, with no added sugars, emulsifiers, artificial ingredients or preservatives, the meals have been developed with busy families who do not always have time to cook from scratch.
Paul Dhaliwal, chief commercial officer at Iceland Foods, said: “We’re delighted to be exclusively stocking the new Mumsnet range, and we’re pleased to share that a portion of the sales will be going directly to Alder Hey.
“The ongoing cost of living crisis is impacting families in many ways, but parents should never have to compromise the nutritional needs of their children. The range is just one aspect of our continued commitment to offering healthy, budget-friendly solutions for families on the go.”
Mumsnet is the UK’s largest parenting network, with 8 million unique visitors per month clocking up over 100 million page views. Founded in 2000, it has evolved into one of the most influential online platforms for parents.
Justine Roberts, Mumsnet founder and CEO, said: “Mumsnet’s mission is to make parents’ lives easier, and we’re really pleased to have partnered with Iceland to produce a range of kids’ ready meals that will do just that.
“We know from the thousands of conversations on-site that it can be difficult for busy parents to find the right balance between convenience and nutrition when feeding their kids. Our new range has been carefully created from healthy ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen, so even when you’re short on time you can still be confident you’re making a healthy choice for your children – as well as serving up something that they’ll actually want to eat”.
Fiona Ashcroft, CEO of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, said: “We are thrilled to be part of this fantastic partnership with Mumsnet and Iceland, which not only provides families across the UK with simple, nutritious, and convenient meal options, but also helps to support the specialist care we provide for our young patients and their families.
“Every purchase will contribute directly to Alder Hey, funding life-saving equipment, pioneering research, and innovative projects that make a real difference to children’s healthcare. We’re incredibly grateful to Mumsnet and Iceland for their support, giving families peace of mind that they’re not just choosing a healthy meal, but also helping to support one of the UK’s leading children’s hospitals.”
Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation was the first national corporate partner of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, and over the years, they have proudly raised more than £3 million to support its vital work.
Available exclusively online and in-store at Iceland and The Food Warehouse, the ready meals launch on 8th April and are set to provide a range of convenient and cost-effective food options for families when they find themselves short on time.
