Record month, record year: InstaVolt sees record growth as EV demand accelerates

InstaVolt, the UK’s leading ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging network, has capped off its most successful period to date, responding to rising electric vehicle (EV) demand with a record-breaking rollout of ultra-rapid chargers.

In March 2025 alone, InstaVolt activated 97 new chargers across the country – the highest monthly figure in the company’s history.

This milestone contributed to a total of 184 chargers installed in the quarter (January–March), and 482 across the full financial year (April 2024–March 2025). At the close of the financial year, InstaVolt’s UK public charging network stood at 1,987 operational chargers nationwide.

Following the release of SMMT’s March figures, these record activations align with the significant consumer adoption of EVs across the UK. March 2025 saw the highest-ever monthly registrations of battery electric vehicles, with 69,313 new BEVs hitting the road in the month.

This milestone builds on February’s momentum, when EVs accounted for one in four new car registrations, highlighting the accelerating shift towards electrification.

InstaVolt continues to play a pivotal role in expanding the UK’s charging network, ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with the accelerating transition to electric vehicles.

Among the recent highlights is the expansion of the Winchester Superhub, InstaVolt’s largest and most advanced charging site to date, which was recently visited by Secretary of State for Transport Heidi Alexander. The site opened on 24th March, and the visit demonstrated the government’s recognition of private sector investment in EV infrastructure as a crucial component of the UK’s transition to widespread EV adoption.

Strategically located near the A34 and close to the M3, the hub features 44 ultra-rapid chargers, supported by integrated solar panels and battery storage to enhance sustainability. Alongside these, driver-friendly amenities include a 24/7 café, toilets, a play park, and a dog-walking area—setting a new standard for EV infrastructure at scale.

Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, said: “We’re seeing the EV transition move from ambition to reality and our record-breaking installations are proof that InstaVolt is delivering the infrastructure to match.

“With one in four new cars now fully electric, drivers need charging they can count on, wherever they are. Our investment in sites like Winchester and hundreds of others across the country ensures that the UK is ready for its electric future.”

InstaVolt’s continued investment in its network underlines its commitment to supporting the UK’s transition to electric vehicles.

By expanding its network at key locations and investing in nationwide coverage, InstaVolt is driving the UK’s transition to EVs. Its commitment to increasing charger availability aligns with broader decarbonisation efforts, reinforcing the importance of charging infrastructure in accelerating EV adoption and supporting the country’s net-zero ambitions.
