Edinburgh-based spirits company Rutland Square Spirits has been recognised by the UK Government in an official announcement following the Prime Minister’s trade visit to India.

In a press release issued by the Department for Business and Trade, the Government highlighted Rutland Square Spirits among UK businesses contributing to stronger trade and investment ties between the two nations, stating:

“Rutland Square Spirits forecasts £3 million in sales over five years in India, expanding beyond travel retail into fast-growing premium retail and food service sectors.”

The recognition follows the company’s recent international expansion, with Rutland Square Spirits launching its award-winning Chai Spiced Gin and Chai Spiced Rum in Dubai earlier this month as part of a growing global strategy.

Speaking about the recognition, Nishant Sharma, founder and CEO of Rutland Square Spirits, said: “To be recognised by the UK Government in this way is an incredible honour — not just for our team, but for everyone who has supported us on this journey. This moment is significant for us — it signals confidence in our vision and highlights the growing potential of the India-UK trade partnership. We’re proud to play a small part in that story.”

Rutland Square Spirits is now preparing to expand its footprint across India’s premium retail and hospitality sectors, with plans to build distribution partnerships and further its international presence.
