Little Waitrose King’s Cross Station has reopened its doors following a multimillion-pound refurbishment, designed to deliver the very best experience for food lovers.
Following an eight-week transformation, Little Waitrose King’s Cross Station is open again from 6am on 28th April. The store, which was the first Waitrose branch to open at a railway station, will celebrate its 12th anniversary in August this year.
The refurbishment brings a host of improvements to the store, which is a popular refuelling stop for passengers. The changes include an upgraded Food To Go area, offering customers an expanded range of meal deal options – from sushi and sandwiches to salads, sausage rolls and more. A redesigned bakery section is stocked with everyday favourites and freshly baked pastries for those wanting to grab a quick breakfast. The investment also includes new refrigeration for improved energy efficiency.
Branch manager, Jamie Chana, who leads a team of 48 Partners at Little Waitrose King’s Cross, said: “We are thrilled to share the exciting transformation at Little Waitrose King’s Cross Station. We are a busy store and are proud to now offer an even better experience for food lovers – from the morning rush hour, to a grab-and-go lunch, snacks for a long journey and dinner for all the family.”
The first shoppers through the doors will be greeted with the gift of a free tote bag for their groceries.
Nationwide growth and investment
Waitrose is also launching into airport travel retail for the first time. From next month, Waitrose products will be stocked in four new RELAY stores in Heathrow Terminal 2, reaching new customers in a high-traffic location.
The move forms part of Waitrose’s strategy to grow through additional channels alongside continued investment in its own shops and online business. Alongside shop openings in Chelmer Village, Essex and Ascot, Berkshire, Waitrose continues to invest in its existing estate with 30 shops undergoing refurbishments this year as part of a £1 billion, multi-year investment programme.
