Nomadic creates new chilled snack category

Nomadic Nomadic, the convenience food brand, is kick-starting an entirely new category in chilled snacking with the launch of its Yogurt & Oat Bar.

The 28g bar, a soft oat base topped with creamy yogurt and encased in a dark chocolate layer, is the first chilled bar of its kind in the UK. It launches nationally in Morrisons on 27th October.

Such bars have long been a staple of chiller cabinets on mainland Europe, but it’s America where they have recently become a huge hit amongst consumers looking for a tasty, yet healthier, snack. Led by the multi-million dollar brand ‘Clio’, chilled yogurt bars have quickly become a common sight in US chillers, with people often also opting for them as an alternative to a pudding.

Nomadic’s launch follows extensive consumer research here, as well as a fact-finding mission to key American markets for such products, including Chicago and Los Angeles.

Described by Nomadic as “dessert in a bar and a lighter take on indulgence”, the Yogurt & Oat Bar only contains 134 calories, with the yogurt packed with gut-healthy live cultures.

The bar – and category it creates – is launched just over 20 years since the company created an entirely new type of chilled snacks with its ‘Rumblers’ range. This has since evolved into Nomadic’s best-selling line of Yogurt & Oat Cluster pots, which have similarly acted as a platform for the company’s focus on single-serve dairy.

Jennifer Crew, Nomadic’s Brand Manager, said: “We couldn’t be more excited with this launch; it’s a new category with massive potential that we’re delighted to create! Genuine variety in chilled snacking – especially in nourishing and convenient snacks – has been sorely lacking until now. Our always ‘on-the-go’ consumers now have another great choice from Nomadic.”

Nomadic Yogurt & Oat Bar, 28g, £1.50.
