Skincare trends are continuing to evolve at pace from innovative treatments and breakthrough technologies to high-performance products designed for long-term skin health. With this in mind beauty expert, Rina Teslica from Cult Beauty, has shared her thoughts on some of the key product ingredients we’ll likely see trending in 2026.

Teslica says: “2026 is shaping up to be the year of smarter skincare with more innovative, skin-boosting ingredients being a core focus. There will be a shift from searching for ‘anti-ageing’ products to wanting to improve long-term skin health with smarter delivery systems.”

Four key ingredients to have on your radar throughout 2026, according to Rina:

Exosomes – These tiny, naturally occurring vesicles carry proteins and lipids between cells, helping to support skin regeneration, repair, and overall cell function. Already appearing in serums from brands like INKEY List and Allies of Skin, exosomes are gaining attention for their ability to elevate the effectiveness of other skincare actives. Interest is growing rapidly, with an average of 9,900 monthly searches and the question “what are exosomes” up 81% in the past three months.

Ectoin – A powerhouse ingredient derived from microorganisms that survive in extreme environments, Ectoin is known for strengthening the skin barrier, locking in hydration, and protecting against environmental aggressors such as pollution and UV stress. Searches for Ectoin are averaging 1,900 per month, with “ectoin skincare” up 86% over the last three months and 53% year-on-year.

PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) – Commonly used in Korean skincare, PDRN is extracted from salmon DNA and is celebrated for its ability to repair tissue, improve elasticity, and enhance overall skin health. Its popularity is soaring, with searches for “PDRN treatments” up 133% YoY, “PDRN skincare” up 700% YoY, and “salmon PDRN” rising 457% YoY.

Beta-Glucan – Found naturally in oats, yeast, and fungi, beta-glucan is ideal for skin that is stressed, inflamed, or uncomfortable. This polysaccharide helps boost hydration, supports the skin’s natural repair processes, and soothes irritation, making it a go-to for sensitive complexions. Monthly searches average 2,900, with “beta glucan skincare” up 181% YoY.
