Cult Beauty reveals searches for eye creams serge by 3,000%

With Google searches for brightening eye creams having seen an increase of 3,000% in the last 30 days, beauty expert Rina Teslica at Cult Beauty has explained why more people are looking to add these specific eye creams into their skincare routines as well as the best ones for tackling stubborn dark circles.

Rina says, “Being well into my mid-30s, supporting my under-eyes has become a major part of my skincare routine. As we age, collagen levels naturally decrease, leading to fine lines and wrinkles, while late nights and everyday stress can make dark circles and puffiness even more noticeable. Finding a brightening eye cream that does it all is now at the top of my skincare wish list.”

So what should shoppers be looking for?

Rina explains that ingredient choice is key, starting with hydration and barrier support. “The skin under the eyes is extremely delicate, so an eye cream that works hard but is infused with soothing and softening hyaluronic acid is essential.”

For those concerned about fine lines, wrinkles and overall brightness, she recommends considering retinol with caution. “Retinol is a skincare superstar that increases cell turnover and visibly improves skin texture, but it must be introduced slowly, especially around the eyes, to avoid irritation.”

When it comes to tackling dark circles and puffiness, Rina highlights vitamin C and caffeine as standout ingredients. “Vitamin C helps reduce pigmentation by inhibiting melanin production, while caffeine constricts blood vessels, helping to reduce puffiness and the bluish tone often seen under the eyes.”

Rina’s favourite brightening eye creams include:

Sunday Riley Auto Correct Brightening and Depuffing Eye Contour Cream
Currently in her rotation, this nourishing formula is enriched with caffeine, Brazilian ginseng, shea and cocoa butters to instantly soothe and depuff. “It works beautifully under makeup and gives the eye area an immediate refreshed look.”

REN Clean Skincare Radiance Brightening Dark Circle Eye Cream
A lightweight, water-in-oil texture that absorbs quickly, featuring elderberry flower extract, hyaluronic acid and glycogen to smooth, tone and visibly brighten the eye area.

Medik8 Retinal Ceramide 6 Eye Cream
For a more targeted, overnight treatment, this advanced eye cream uses encapsulated retinaldehyde to gradually improve fine lines, uneven skin tone and firmness. Chamomile extract, hyaluronic acid and ceramides help keep the delicate skin calm and supported while delivering results.
