Spring is officially here, and many of us are rethinking our fragrance choices, swapping heavier winter scents for lighter, fresher options better suited to the warmer months ahead.

New data from Cult Beauty reveals a clear shift in how we’re choosing and wearing fragrance this spring/summer, with vanilla-led scents, personalised layering, and lighter formats emerging as the defining trends for 2026.

Drawing on recent search behaviour, the insights highlight a move towards soft, skin-like musks and nostalgic gourmand blends, with this season’s fragrances centred around effortless wearability and personal expression.

Top 10 Most Popular Fragrances For Spring and Summer

From viral vanilla blends to fresh, skin-like scents, Cult Beauty’s data reveals the 10 fragrances everyone will be reaching for this spring and summer.

  1. BornToStandOut Drunk Lovers Eau de Parfum – A bold, statement fragrance that combines sweet, boozy and spicy notes, creating a complex and intoxicating scent designed to stand out.

  1. Kayali Sweet Diamond Pink Pepper 25 – A vibrant, spicy-sweet fragrance where pink pepper adds a sparkling edge to soft florals and warm amber, making it both feminine and striking.

  1. Jo Malone London Raspberry Ripple Cologne – A fresh, fruity cologne inspired by nostalgic summer desserts, blending juicy raspberry with soft sweetness for a light, uplifting scent.

  1. Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 – A minimalist, skin-enhancing fragrance built around a single note, Iso E Super, known for its subtle, woody aroma that adapts uniquely to the wearer.

The fragrance trends for spring and summer explained:

  1. Vanilla blended scents:
We’re seeing a huge resurgence in gourmand fragrances, with vanilla firmly leading the way. What’s interesting is how much it’s evolved, moving away from overly sweet, one-note scents to something far more refined. Blended with musks, woods and subtle spice, vanilla now feels elevated, wearable and completely modern, making it a go-to all year round rather than just a winter favourite.

  2. Fragrance wardrobes:
We’re loving the shift away from having just one signature scent. Instead, it’s all about building a fragrance wardrobe, with different scents for different moods, moments and seasons. Discovery sets and layering kits are becoming increasingly popular because they make it easy to experiment, mix and personalise your scent in a way that feels unique.

  3. Hair mists:
Lighter fragrance formats are really coming into their own, especially hair mists. We’re seeing a growing appetite for softer, more subtle ways to wear scent, particularly as the weather gets warmer. They give that delicate scent trail without feeling overpowering, and many now come with added haircare benefits too, which makes them an easy everyday staple.

  4. ‘Skin scents’:
There’s a clear move towards fragrances that feel more intimate and understated. Often described as ‘skin scents’, these are typically musky, woody or clean notes that sit close to the skin and enhance your natural scent rather than mask it. We love how effortless and wearable these are, perfect for everyday and for those who prefer something more subtle.

  5. Unisex fragrances:
We’re continuing to see fragrance move away from traditional gender labels, with more people gravitating towards unisex or slightly more masculine-leaning notes. Woods, spice and musk are especially popular, and it’s much more about how a scent makes you feel rather than how it’s categorised.

  6. Lighter, customisable formats:
Overall, we’re seeing a strong preference for fragrances that feel flexible and easy to wear. Whether it’s layering different scents, using a hair mist for a lighter finish, or switching things up throughout the day, it’s all about having options. Fragrance is becoming much more personal, and we’re really embracing that more fluid, mix-and-match approach.

Rina Teslica, beauty expert at Cult Beauty, says: “Spring is always such a lovely time to refresh your fragrance wardrobe. We naturally gravitate towards lighter, softer scents, but what’s really exciting this year is how playful and personal fragrance has become. It’s no longer about finding one signature scent, it’s about layering, experimenting and choosing something that reflects your mood.

We’re seeing a big rise in skin-like musks and elevated vanilla blends that feel warm, comforting and easy to wear every day. My biggest tip would be not to overthink it, try mixing your favourites, opt for lighter formats like mists, and most importantly, choose something that makes you feel good.”
