Novuna Consumer Finance has partnered with British cycling technology company Skarper to make one of the most innovative e-bike drive systems on the market more accessible to riders across the UK – without replacing the bike they love.
The partnership means customers can now spread the cost of Skarper’s click-on, click-off e-bike Drive System over 10 months with interest-free credit, offering a more affordable route into electric cycling without the need to replace an existing bike.
Developed with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and championed by six-time Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy, Skarper’s patented DiskDrive® system allows riders to add electric assistance to most disc brake bikes, then remove it when they want to ride without power.
Unlike conventional e-bikes, which require riders to commit to a dedicated electric model, Skarper gives cyclists the freedom to upgrade the bike they already own. Its lightweight, modular system clicks on and off as needed, offering electric support for commuting, longer rides, hill climbs or recovery days, without compromising the feel of the original bike.
The system is available online and through more than 80 certified partner stores nationwide, where customers can try the technology first-hand and receive free installation. Through Novuna’s retail finance platform, customers can access interest-free credit over a 10-month term with a minimum £250 deposit.
Brian Flesk, head of retail at Novuna Consumer Finance, said: “e-bikes are transforming how people think about travel, fitness and everyday mobility, but the cost of buying a new electric bike can still be a barrier for many riders.
“Skarper is changing that conversation. Its technology gives cyclists a smart and flexible way to electrify the bike they already own, and our role is to make that upgrade easier to access through simple, interest-free finance.
“This is exactly where retail finance can make a real difference: helping innovative brands reach more customers while giving people more choice in how they pay for the products that matter to them.”
Ean Brown, co-founder and CEO of Skarper, added: “Cyclists want flexibility. They want the freedom to ride with electric assistance when they need it, but without losing the bike they already love.
“Eigjt out of 10 Skarper riders now cycle more often and further than before they added the system. That is not a marketing claim – it is what our customers report. With Novuna, riders get an affordable and sustainable way to go electric.”
