Co‑op Wholesale announces new partnership with Holliss Filling Stations

Co‑op Wholesale has confirmed a new partnership with Holliss Filling Stations, a long-established, family-owned forecourt and convenience operator serving communities across South Devon.

The Townstal Road, Dartmouth (TQ6 9LW) store officially relaunched under the new Holliss brand on 26 June, supported by the Co-op Proud to Stock proposition. The remaining two stores—Totnes Cross Filling Station, Halwell (TQ9 7JG) and California Cross Service Station, Modbury (PL21 0SG) will follow shortly thereafter.

Holliss Filling Stations, a business originally founded more than 50 years ago, operates multiple forecourts with convenience stores. Julian Holliss commented, “Our family decision to join Co‑op Wholesale reflects the strength of its modernised, transparent and commercially focused wholesale model, backed by access to Co‑op’s award-winning own brand range and a simplified partnership approach designed around retailer growth.”

While all three sites are currently stocking Co-op Wholesale and own-brand products, the Townstal Road store has undergone a complete re-development, significantly increasing their chilled food offering, providing shoppers with a strong food for now and food for later options. In addition, they have introduced an in-store bakery, increased their off-license offering and added 2 new self-serve tills.

The new store opened on Friday 26th June and as part of the opening day celebrations Holliss through Co-op Wholesale’s charity partner Making a Difference Locally (MADL) donated £500 to Dartmouth Community Chest which supports the most vulnerable individuals and families with services such as a food pantry, community café and support groups.

Aside from the transformation of the store itself, the forecourt has moved from BP to Esso and has a full re-brand with Co-op Proud to Stock clearly displayed so shoppers know they can find quality, award-winning own-brand products on site.

“As a family business rooted in our local communities for more than half a century, choosing the right long-term partner really matters. The Co‑op Wholesale model gives us clarity, consistency and strong commercial foundations, from clear terms to the quality of the Co‑op own‑brand range. It gives us confidence as we prepare to relaunch our stores this summer.”  Julian Holliss

Ian King, business development & growth director at Co-op Wholesale, commented: “We’re pleased to welcome Julian and the Holliss Filling Stations team into the Co‑op Wholesale family. They are a well-established operator with deep community ties, and their decision to join us demonstrates the clarity and strength of our proposition. We look forward to supporting their transition in the coming weeks and building a long-term partnership together.”
