Co-op WholesaleCo-op Wholesale has officially launched a new Nisa store in Wishaw after the operator switched from his former fascia. It is now open to the public serving a wide selection of award-winning Co-op Brand lines as well as other popular convenience goods.

Located on Caledonian Road, the new convenience store has benefited from a full refit of the new Nisa proposition. Standing at 2,000sq ft, it is set up to serve customers in the busy Lanarkshire town.

Mani Anwar will operate the store serving the bustling residential area with vital food, drinks and snacks as well as housing some additional and unique offerings. A Lavazza freshly ground coffee station will cater to customers wanting to caffeinate on the go, while Spud Kings provides hearty, freshly baked potatoes with an array of fillings perfect for a quick lunch. A Beer Cave has also been fitted offering customers an array of chilled beers from across the world, ready to enjoy at home.

The new store gives local shoppers access to a wide range of everyday essentials, fresh food and Co-op brand products, offering them quality, value and convenience. Among the 2,400+ Co-op brand lines available to all Nisa symbols to stock are fresh and chilled, food-to-go, fresh produce, frozen and award-winning premium ranges, under the Irresistible moniker.

Nisa stores uniquely benefit from having access to the Co-op brand, which brings a wealth of benefit to independent retailers’ customers, from recognisable products that fit their lifestyle to solutions for any meal or snacking occasion. Nisa retailers also receive far-reaching support from Co-op Wholesale teams, encompassing operations, supply chain, marketing and more to support the running of their independent business.

Fiona Shearer, regional development manager at Co-op Wholesale, commented: “This is an excellent addition to our estate and a great opportunity for Mani and the team. The store occupies a strong location on Caledonian Road and has all the ingredients for success, combining a modern retail offer with the convenience local shoppers are looking for. We look forward to supporting the team as they establish and grow the business.”

Mani Anwar, owner of Nisa Wishaw, commented: “Converting the store to Nisa marks an exciting new chapter for our business. We were looking for a wholesale partner and symbol that could help us strengthen our offer, and the combination of the Nisa brand, Co-op brand products and the support provided by the Co-op Wholesale team made it a compelling choice. The transition has gone smoothly, and we’re looking forward to building on the store’s existing success while delivering even greater value and choice for customers in Wishaw.”

Making a difference in the Community (MADL)

A unique point of difference and real draw for Nisa stores is Co-op Wholesale’s charity – Making A Difference Locally (MADL). It supports retail partners through fundraising via Co-op brand products’ sales to support causes local to stores. MADL has provided £500 to celebrate Nisa Wishaw opening, which it has donated to Thornlie Primary School, in Wishaw.
