Princes named MSC Seafood Brand of the Year for third consecutive year

Princes has been named MSC Seafood Brand of the Year for the third year running, recognising its continued commitment to responsibly sourced seafood and its extensive range of independently certified sustainable products.

The award was presented at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) UK Awards, held at Fishmongers’ Hall in London, and comes during a period of strong commercial performance for the brand.

Princes has delivered impressive volume growth, attracting new buyers at a faster rate than the wider market, while continuing to make MSC-certified sustainable seafood accessible to consumers across the UK, including tuna, salmon and Jack Mackerel.

Tom Holmes, senior brand manager at Princes, said: “To be recognised as MSC Seafood Brand of the Year for three consecutive years is a fantastic achievement. We’re proud of brand’s strength and the trust consumers continue to place in us. As we continue to grow, maintaining our commitment to responsibly sourced seafood remains a priority. This award is testament to the dedication of our colleagues and the strength of our relationships with suppliers and partners.”

The award reflects the ongoing work across Princes Group to maintain robust sourcing standards, certification and traceability, supported by collaboration with fisheries, suppliers and industry partners.

Earlier this year, Princes Group announced it had achieved its 2025 commitment to source 100% of its branded tuna from MSC-certified fisheries, representing around 70 million cans of tuna each year. The milestone marked a significant step in Princes’ long-standing commitment to responsible sourcing and ocean stewardship, following several years of investment in traceability, closer collaboration with fishing partners and large-scale supply-chain transformation.

David McDiarmid, corporate relations director at  Princes Group, said: “Receiving this award for the third time  – our first ‘treble’ – reflects the sustained effort and collaboration required to support sustainable seafood sourcing. Working closely with suppliers, fisheries and organisations such as the MSC is fundamental to our approach. We’re proud to play our part in supporting more sustainable fishing practices and helping safeguard marine resources for future generations.”

“We are particularly proud to now have all three awards sitting in our Liver Building Offices, overlooking Princes Dock from which we took our name many years ago and where our first imported seafood was landed over 145 years ago”

The MSC is an international non-profit organisation working to end overfishing through its science-based certification and ecolabelling programme.
