Wickes - Retailer NewsHome improvement retailer Wickes has announced the opening of a new store in Chelmsford as part of the business’ ongoing investment into its store estate. The new store will be located on the site of the old Homebase in Baynes Place, Waterhouse Lane, and will be open in Summer 2023 once refurbishments are complete.

Historically, Wickes has a long trading history in Chelmsford, having previously traded for 25 years from 1993 to 2018. The return to Chelmsford will expand upon the existing successful stores in Essex.

The new store will offer a range of home improvement products for both trade professionals and customers looking to improve their own homes. It will also feature a contemporary Kitchen and Bathroom Showroom to help customers plan their dream home, supported by professional design consultants offering friendly advice, a free design service, and Wickes’ trusted installation service. What’s more, the Chelmsford store will provide free delivery on orders above £85, a 30-minute Click & Collect service, as well as a bespoke Paint Mixing station.

Wickes CMO, Gary Kibble, said: “Opening a new store is always a pleasure, but it’s an even greater privilege when it’s in a location where Wickes has deep trading roots from previous decades. The team look forward to welcoming customers, both old and new to the store in Summer 2023 and in the years to come.”

Wickes Property Director, Sarah Tait, added: “With existing stores in Dagenham, Maldon and Braintree, we are thrilled to be welcoming Chelmsford back into our Essex family. As a proud digitally led, service-enabled retailer, the new Wickes store will offer residents of Chelmsford and the surrounding areas a wide range of home improvement products, services, and expert advice from our knowledgeable staff.”

The new store will be open from Summer 2023 (exact date to be announced) located 1 Baynes Pl, Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford CM1 2QX, open Monday to Friday 7am – 8pm, Saturday 7am – 7pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
