AldiAldi has revealed its latest priority locations across the UK as it looks to secure sites for new stores.

Britain’s biggest discounter is continuing its expansion as it aims to make high-quality, affordable food accessible to more communities.

Among the latest priority locations where Aldi is actively seeking sites are:

  • Ayr South, South Ayrshire
  • Blantyre, South Lanarkshire
  • Canvey Island, Essex
  • Chaddesden, Derbyshire
  • Cleethorpes Old Clee Middlethorpe Road, Lincolnshire
  • Croxteth, Merseyside
  • Exeter Central, Devon
  • Falkirk Central, Falkirk
  • Gateshead – Team Valley, Tyne and Wear
  • Guildford, Surrey
  • Harrogate, North Yorkshire
  • Hereford, Herefordshire
  • Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
  • Leeds Horsforth Low Lane, West Yorkshire
  • Lincoln, Lincolnshire
  • Monmouth, Monmouthshire
  • Newcastle (Central), Tyne and Wear
  • Oxford, Oxfordshire
  • Plymouth West, Devon
  • St Albans, Hertfordshire
  • Woking, Surrey
  • Whitby, North Yorkshire
  • Warwick, Warwickshire
  • Walthamstow, London
  • Bath, Somerset

The expansion will also create new jobs, with Aldi remaining the UK’s highest-paying supermarket. Store Assistants earn from £13.50 per hour nationally and £14.88 within the M25, rising further with length of service.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re focused on identifying the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store.

“Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”

This announcement builds on Aldi’s wider UK expansion plans. The supermarket is investing over £370 million in new stores this year as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations nationwide.

It also follows Aldi’s recent £40 million investment in London, where eight new stores are set to open this year, bringing hundreds of new jobs and more affordable food options to communities that currently lack access to discount supermarkets.

Aldi is seeking freehold, leasehold or long leasehold sites in prominent locations with good visibility and access and is encouraging landowners and agents to come forward with suitable opportunities.

Anyone with a site that may meet Aldi’s requirements should contact realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk
