Aldi has announced an updated list of priority locations across Scotland where it is hoping to seek sites for new stores.
Each site should be, at minimum, circa two acres, be able to accommodate an 18,000 to 20,000 sq ft store with around 100 parking spaces and must be near a main road with good visibility and access.
The latest list of priority locations in Scotland where Aldi is actively looking for sites includes:
  • Cathcart, Glasgow
  • Springburn, Glasgow
  • Clarkston
  • Bonnyrigg
  • Barnton, Edinburgh
  • Blantyre
  • Largs
  • South East Kilbride
  • North Stirling
  • South Ayr
  • Troon
  • Methil
Aldi currently has 112 stores in Scotland and employs more than 3,600 people. In December, the retailer announced plans to invest £43m over the next two years in Scotland, with new stores set to open in Bishopbriggs and Dumbarton this year. The retailer also committed to extending its Greenock, Perth, Linlithgow, Paisley and Stirling stores.
Sandy Mitchell, regional managing director, Aldi Scotland, said: “We already have an incredible network of stores across Scotland but we have a vision to make high-quality, locally sourced and affordable food and drink accessible to as many communities as possible. Our sustained growth over the last few years means we are continually expanding our real estate portfolio and have been able to invest in expanding our store footprint in Scotland and beyond.
“Our stores are more than just a place to pick up produce – they become integral parts of communities, supporting grassroots clubs and charitable initiatives. Our people are at the heart of that connection, building strong relationships with customers and local partners to make a genuine difference in the places we serve.
“We look forward to continuing our growth, deepening our community impact, and bringing fresh, local food to even more people across Scotland. Those who have a site that fits our requirement are urged to get in touch.”
Anybody who has a site that may fit Aldi’s requirements should contact realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk or visit https://www.aldi.co.uk/corporate/property/required-towns for more information.
