Andy MurrayAndy Murray was in Glasgow this week with teams from Albert Bartlett’s food charity partners FareShare / Felix Project to celebrate the partnership between the potato firm and the surplus food redistribution charity reaching its 20 million meals milestone. Albert Bartlett are a long-standing partner of the national FareShare charity, supplying surplus food which is redistributed across their UK charity partner network.

Andy visited the Move On facility in Glasgow where he toured the new Coronation Food Project Hub. The hub is part of HM Coronation Food Project and aims to supercharge the region’s ability to rescue, sort and redistribute good-to-eat surplus food, and then get it to local charities who are supporting those experiencing food insecurity across the Glasgow and the West of Scotland. The facility will officially open in a few months’ time. During the visit Andy toured the new site, followed a potato’s journey through the hub, and spent time with volunteers and charity partners to hear more about the difference this work makes on the ground.

Andy Murray said: “Seeing the work happening here in Glasgow has been really inspiring. It’s brilliant to be part of a partnership that has now helped provide 20 million meals to those that need them most, and to meet the people making such a real difference in local communities. The new Coronation Hub is amazing – what they do to redistribute food is so important”.

For Albert Bartlett, the milestone reflects more than 15 years of partnership with FareShare and The Felix Project, through which potatoes and other surplus produce have helped deliver millions of meals to people across the UK. The company’s support has been central to efforts to cut food waste at source while helping charities provide nutritious food to communities who need it most. Albert Bartlett reached 10 million meals with FareShare in March 2023. The next major milestone was 15 million meals in February 2025, and they are now at 20 million meals. Showcasing how this partnership has gone from strength to strength.

John Heginbottom, Albert Bartlett sales director, said: “We are extremely proud to have reached 20 million meals through our partnership with FareShare and The Felix Project. This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our teams and charity partners, and to the power of working together to reduce food waste and support families facing food insecurity. Seeing that work come to life in Glasgow makes it especially meaningful.”

The potatoes are distributed across the UK, via FareShare and The Felix Project network. The UK’s leading food redistribution charity it is made up of the two separate

organisations. It was announced in 2025 that the two would come together to form a bigger organisation with greater reach and impact. Move On is one of the 17 network partners and manages the FareShare Glasgow and West of Scotland depot. Last year Move On rescued and redistributed the equivalent of 2.5M meals to 98 charities in Scotland. Alongside the food they offer a variety of employability support for young people and adults facing complex barriers to work. Through FareShare Glasgow and the West of Scotland, Move On offer practical work experience, including driving lessons and forklift operator training.

Paul Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer at Move On said:
“It has been a delight to show Andy what we do and have some of the organisations we support share the impact of the food. It has been especially momentous to host it at our fantastic new hub which strengthens our ability to rescue and redistribute more good food to charities across Glasgow and the West of Scotland. Partnerships like this are vital in helping us respond to growing need while building stronger, healthier communities.”

The visit also highlighted the scale of the challenge especially as demand for support continues to rise. Charlotte Hill OBE, CEO The Felix Project and FareShare said “We know that more and more people are struggling to afford food and other essentials and this has been made worse recently by the issues in Iran and the Middle East. Demand is soaring and it is vital we do all we can to ensure perfectly edible food is ending up on people’s plates. I am so grateful to Albert Barlett and all the charity partners who are helping us to rescue so much incredible produce and look forward to the next 20 million more!”
