As England prepare to take on Mexico in the knockout stages on Monday morning, Asda has unveiled a 16-inch ‘Chilli Con Kane’ dish at its Cheltenham store – paying tribute to England captain Harry Kane’s match-winning display against DR Congo.
The football-inspired feast, which took an incredible 24hours to create, comes as Google data shows searches for “chilli con carne” has spiked since England’s victory – with fans clearly developing an appetite for all things Kane ahead of the last-16 clash.
Made using all the classic chilli con carne ingredients – minced beef, kidney beans, tomatoes, peppers and plenty of spice – the creation, which measure at 30x45cm, is finished with an edible likeness of England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The tasty tribute follows Kane’s brilliant brace against DR Congo – which took his international tally to 84 goals in 118 appearances, extending his lead at the top of England’s all-time men’s scoring charts.
And when it comes to knockout football, England have bean there, done that! However, Asda is hoping Kane can once again pepper the opposition defence with goals. If England can keep their cool while bringing the heat, fans will be hoping Monday’s result is anything but jalapeño business.
