Bob & Berts chooses Warrington for first opening in next phase of UK expansion

Bob & BertsIndependent coffee shop brand Bob & Berts has announced it will open a new café at Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington on Wednesday 26 August, marking the first opening in the brand’s next phase of UK expansion.

Founded in Portstewart, Northern Ireland in 2013, Bob & Berts has grown from a single neighbourhood coffee shop to a 28-store business spanning Northern Ireland, Scotland and England. Group sales reached £24.3m for FY26 period ending June 2026, an increase of 8% year on year. With trading EBITDA rising to £2.8m (FY26) v a previous year of £1.6m (FY25).

At the heart of the Bob & Berts proposition is a full kitchen serving a wide menu of freshly prepared breakfasts, brunches and lunches alongside handcrafted drinks. This all-day dining concept has helped establish the brand as a destination for everything from breakfast meetings and family lunches to afternoon catch-ups, supporting its continued growth across the UK.

The new 3,000 sq ft Warrington store will create 20 new jobs and seat 135 guests, further strengthening the brand’s presence in England. The opening also reflects Bob & Berts’ continued investment in its customer experience, with guests able to order at the till, via self-service kiosks or directly from their table using the brand’s digital ordering technology.

The brand recently won the award for Best Customer Experience at the QSR Media Awards 2026. This award is testament to how the introduction of technology in the ordering process has meant store staff can focus on delivering genuine hospitality and exceptional service.

Colin McClean, Founder of Bob & Berts, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Bob & Berts to Warrington as we begin the next chapter of our growth. I’ve visited the town many times over the years, and Golden Square immediately stood out as the right location for us. It’s a well-established retail and hospitality destination with a strong sense of community, making it the perfect place for our next opening.

“Warrington is the first store in our next phase of expansion and we’re looking forward to continuing to invest in communities across the UK over the coming years.”

David Ferguson, co-owner at Bob & Berts, said: “Warrington represents an exciting opportunity for the brand and forms an important part of our long-term expansion strategy. We’re always looking for locations that complement the Bob & Berts experience and Golden Square offers exactly that, with a strong retail mix and an established customer base.”

The Warrington opening is the latest milestone in Bob & Berts’ continued UK growth, with further locations planned as part of the company’s five-year expansion strategy. Digital will play a key role in future openings, with the business continuing to evolve from a traditional POS-only model to a highly efficient, multi-channel ordering ecosystem.
