Boutique-y reveals limited edition collection of five standout single casks

Boutique-y’s in-house experts have selected five standout single casks, aged 9 to 33 years and bottled at a deliberate 45.8% ABV

Boutique-yThat Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) has unveiled a new five-bottle limited edition collection, representing what the team describes as the standout casks from more than 300 sampled at the close of 2025.

Released this month, the bottlings range in age from nine to 33 years old and are presented at 45.8% ABV, a deliberate nod to the historic British 80 Proof system. The range spans single malts from Islay, Speyside and the Highlands, alongside a 33-year-old single grain from the long-closed Dumbarton Distillery and an elegantly aged 22-year-old Irish single malt from Bushmills.

Head of whisky Sam Simmons and global brand ambassador Dave Worthington led the selection process, narrowing the field to five expressions that best captured the adventurous nature of whisky alchemy or that were…“just bloody delicious”.

“We are incredibly proud of this collection. These are five casks we kept coming back to –  we knew we had something really special,” said Simmons.

Worthington added: “For us, it’s about great whisky and great whisky should be accessible, delicious and fun. After tasting more than 300 casks, these were the ones that genuinely stood out. Or, put simply, they were just bloody delicious.”

Simmons continued: “This is the third series we’ve bottled at the old 80 Proof (UK). We believe 45.8% lets the spirit and the cask’s personality shine, while keeping everything balanced and genuinely drinkable. We take the liquid seriously, but we don’t think enjoying it has to be.”

Boutique-y has never been driven by marketing jargon. While phrases like “hand-picked” are often overused in the category, the team’s approach is straightforward: taste widely, debate thoroughly and bottle only the casks that genuinely stand out for flavour, balance and character.

THE COLLECTION

13 Year Old Caol Ila – Islay (RRP £69.95| 45.8% ABV | 70cl | 327 bottles)

A sweet, spicy and smoky example of Caol Ila, enhanced by a two-year finish in a fresh ex-American rye barrel. Coastal air and sweet smoke lead into brine and warming spice, while the palate delivers a firm oak grip with toasted almond, burnt sugar and savoury charred barbecue notes.

9 Year Old Glen Elgin – Speyside (RRP £49.95 | 45.8% ABV | 70cl | 438 bottles)

From one of Boutique-y’s favourite distilleries, this Glen Elgin spent a tasteful period of finishing in a PX hogshead. This finishing has deepened the distillery’s character into dark, sweet spice, yet it crucially maintains the fresh and invigorating ‘sipper’ quality that Glen Elgin is famed for. Bright and notably sweet, with candied orange peel, plump dark raisins and ripe red apples, the palate brings runny honey, nuttiness and a subtle touch of fresh lavender, rounded out by sticky toffee pudding richness.

27 Year Old Glen Garioch – Highlands (RRP £199.95 | 45.8% ABV | 70cl | 198 bottles)

Laid down in a refill sherry butt in 1998 and matured for its entire life in a single cask, this classic, well-aged distillery expression balances character, wood and time. Deeply autumnal and ‘warehouse-y’, with polished oak, warmed vinyl and overripe tropical fruit, the palate is remarkably oily and complex, funky and ripe, revealing damp oak, dried figs, aged leather, pipe tobacco and dark chocolate, lifted by flashes of mango and papaya.

33 Year Old Dumbarton – Single Grain (RRP £124.95 | 45.8% ABV | 70cl | 242 bottles)

Distilled in 1992 at the now-demolished Dumbarton Distillery and matured in a refill hogshead, this rare single grain offers a glimpse into one of Scotland’s lost whisky sites. Sweet cereal and freshly baked shortbread lead into vanilla wafers, while the palate is light and silky, with tropical fruit, coconut and spearmint, finishing on pineapple and cedar.

22 Year Old Bushmills – Irish Single Malt (RRP £249.95 | 45.8% ABV | 70cl | 390 bottles)

Originally laid down in October 2002 and re-racked in January 2023 into an ex-Maury wine cask for extended finishing, this triple-distilled single malt balances fruit and fortified wine influence over 22 years. Sweet, milky black tea and buttery shortbread give way to mango, milk chocolate and syrupy sultanas, while the palate coats with creamy caramel, tropical fruit and dark plum, finishing with refined cigar box depth.
