Chococo is very proud of the selection of plant based, vegan-friendly chocolates in this box. With 14 different flavours to enjoy across the 14 days, there is a maximum of two repeats per flavours.
Included in this selection are flavours such as the new Bottoms Up! (a dark chocolate gem filled with a Marc de Champagne infused creamy oat m!lk chocolate), Chai Spice (oat m!lk blended with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove), Panela Panache (a single origin dark chocolate truffle with Colombian panela sugar) and Oat M!lk Honeycombe Gem (crunchy honeycombe pieces in an oat m!lk gem). Also included are Dorset’s Conker Port Barrel Gin & Juniper and Oat M!lk Hazelnut Latte Cluster, plus Pedro & Prune (prunes steeped in Pedro Ximenez sherry) and award-winning Tangerine Dream (soft orange-infused dark chocolate topped with a zingy tangerine jelly).
As the days get closer to Christmas, the chocolates get more festive including 2020 Silver International Chocolate award winning Spiced Rum, made with Exeter’s Two Drifters dark rum and Tawny Port & Fig, with figs steeped in Noval’s 10-year-old Tawny port. The final chocolate to enjoy on December 25th is the very celebratory Bottoms Up! gem.
Chococo’s chocolate provenance
Chococo led the way back in 2005 in offering an advent style selection box filled with proper chocolates for grown-ups and its Classic Countdown to Christmas box has become an annual best seller and part of the ritual of the annual Christmas build-up for many Chococo customers.
All Chococo’s chocolate is sustainably sourced and it is very proud that its signature milk, dark, oat m!lk and white chocolate is all directly traded with their chocolate partners based in Ecuador, Colombia and Madagascar, who are producing fine chocolate in country of origin for Chococo. These companies use local ingredients, create more highly skilled jobs, keep a greater share of the income in the local community and raise the value of their exports, giving more power to cocoa growing communities.
Chococo’s signature milk chocolate is made exclusively for Chococo by B Corp producer Luker in Colombia, using fine Fino de Aroma cocoa beans grown in the Huila, Tumaco and Santander regions. Working in partnership with Luker to create this unique milk chocolate, Chococo is proud that their signature milk chocolate has a wonderfully rich yet creamy chocolate taste with bright top notes, but importantly contains less sugar than most other milk chocolates, as it contains just 30% added sugar. Chococo also work with Luker’s delicious plant-based, 43% oat m!lk chocolate made with gluten-free oat powder for a rich and creamy chocolate taste without the dairy.
Chococo continues its direct trade partnership, working with family-run Martinetti Cocoa in Ecuador to source their Hacienda Zoilita single estate signature 72% dark chocolate couverture, roasted cocoa nibs and 100% dark chocolate. Martinetti Cocoa is a small family-owned chocolate company making chocolate in the heart of the cocoa growing region of Los Rios in Ecuador. They buy their single origin heritage Arriba Nacional cocoa beans at a premium price direct from local cocoa farmers located close to their chocolate factory in Quevedo. Once made, the chocolate is shipped direct to Chococo by sea.
New for this year is Chococo’s Blonde Chocolate, just for fans of the sweet stuff. This salted butter caramel white chocolate, with bright caramel flavour notes, is made with sustainably sourced cocoa butter which has full traceability through the Cacao Trace sustainability programme from producer Belcolade. They are dedicated to its sustainable sourcing ethics as well as using 100% recyclable packaging and its Cacao-Trace sustainability programme is leading the way to a fairer cocoa value chain.
Chococo’s passion for flavour has resulted in them winning over 120 fine food awards to date including; Great Taste Awards, International Chocolate Awards and Academy of Chocolate Awards.
