Checkpoint launches innovative solution to counter ‘sweeping’

Checkpoint Systems’ Alpha High-Theft Solutions division is enabling retailers to enhance their open-shelf security with its new anti-sweeping product, ShrinkShelf ™.

A revolutionary shelf-management system, which maximizes product capacity on shelf while reducing shrink, ShrinkShelf™ has been designed specifically to prevent loss from stock sweeping and Organized Retail Crime (ORC), and to increase sales.

ShrinkShelf™’s innovative design enables customers to continue to purchase shelf-based items with ease, while delivering a significant level of product protection to retailers. Crucially, it also boasts a time-delay feature, preventing dishonest shoppers from stealing multiple products in one go and significantly reducing the issue of sweeping. Other Alpha High Theft Solutions products, such as Keepers™ and Spiderwraps™, can also be integrated with ShrinkShelf™ to add an extra layer of protection for high-theft items.

In addition to product protection, ShrinkShelf™ also offers a number of advantages to retailers when it comes to merchandising. With a simple, easy-to-use format, store operators are able to restock shelves quicker and more efficiently than before. The pull-out drawer promotes restocking from the back, which in turn reduces labor costs, aids product expiry date control and allows employees to spend more time with customers and less time stocking shelves.

With a versatile format that can be adapted to fit almost any shelf, along with a slimline profile, ShrinkShelf™ can also increase shelf space by 20-30% thus driving sales, as Simon Edgar, Alpha’s Product Management Director, Simon Edgar explains:

“ShrinkShelf™ has proven that it is possible to reduce losses and drive sales growth, using simple but impactful design. The combination of loss prevention focused anti-sweep techniques and near-perfect retail sales-focused product facing and planogram management, results in a solution that really does enable retailers to sell more and lose less.”

Comprising of the shelf body, an acrylic front panel, metal dividers, pushers and hoods, ShrinkShelf™ also features LED lights, an education bar which can be used to inform consumers about specific products, a “try me” bin for available product samples, and “what’s new” and “clearance” buttons to inform customers of new or clearance items. This engages consumers during the buying process and can encourage additional sales.
