In the run up to the festive season, Central Co-op has shared over £420,000 among its Members across the country through its latest ‘Share of the Profits’ distribution.
Twice a year, Central Co-op pays this dividend to eligible Members of the Society based on how much they’ve shopped in stores.
In addition to receiving a pay out twice yearly, Central Co-op Members are also given access to ‘Member Pricing’ – savings across hundreds of items, from everyday essentials to festive foods. This year alone, Central Co-op Members have collectively saved approximately £5 million through Member pricing.
Other benefits available to Central Co-op Members include exclusive events and classes, ranging from history and film groups to dance classes, along with a say in how the Society is run as a part of democratic elections.
In return, thanks to Members’ support, Central Co-op is also able to continue to invest in important community projects through its Community Dividend Fund, which supports hundreds of local good causes each year, including charities that provide communities with access to food, health and wellbeing, inclusion, and the environment.
Sarah Dickins, chief member, customer & people officer, Central Co-op said: “Our Members are at the heart of everything we do, and I want to thank them for their continued support. Throughout the year, we give a share of our profits not only to our Members, but to local community groups and good causes too. By choosing to shop with Central Co-op, Members and customers are making a meaningful difference to local communities.”
Member Pricing extends to over 100 items, ranging from everyday essentials including milk, eggs, and bread to cleaning products, pet food and toiletries. What’s more, for the festive season, the Society has applied Member prices to a selection of seasonal products such as mulled wine reduced from £4.50 to £3.00, Black Forest Sundae mince pies down from £2.65 to £2.00 and Irresistible 400G Christmas Pudding available to Members at £3.50 from £5.00.
