Cotswold Outdoor launches rain-powered discount campaign

Cotswold OutdoorAfter more than 40 consecutive days of rain in parts of the UK, Brits are in search of some relief from the relentless wet weather.

Now, outdoor retailer Cotswold Outdoor is embracing the downpour with a new campaign designed to turn miserable weather into money off.

Rather than waiting for blue skies, the brand is turning the endless downpour into a rolling reward for shoppers. The retailer has launched a new social-led offer where the discount grows with every additional day of rain.

Today marks day 46 of the soggy streak, meaning successful entrants can unlock 46% off. If the rain continues tomorrow, the offer rises to 47%. By Wednesday, it climbs again to 48%. The longer the wet weather drags on, the bigger the saving.

A spokesperson for Cotswold Outdoor said the idea was born out of Britain’s seemingly endless stretch of drizzle.

“Over 40 days of rain feels very British. We cannot stop the weather, but we can help people make the most of it. If the skies are staying grey, we are turning that into a reason to upgrade your kit and get outside anyway.”

Cotswold Outdoor sales data shows that Brits are in a rush to stay dry – with a 45% year on year rise in waterproof sales and over 100% increase the number of umbrellas sold.

How it works

Shoppers need to:

• Watch Cotswold Outdoor’s Instagram Story each day
• Grab the daily code revealed
• DM the code to the brand
• Five people, chosen at random, will then receive a unique discount code to spend on one full-price item in store or online
