Out of more than 14,000 entries submitted globally this year, less than 2% received the sought after 3-star rating.
The Great Taste Awards are blind tasted by over 500 experts including chefs, critics, buyers and food writers. The coveted 3-star award are reserved for ‘extraordinarily tasty food and drink’. Judges praised Desi Daru’s Alphonso Mango Vodka for its purity, clarity and unmistakable mango character sharing, “This is just exceptional. The nose is delicate yet unmistakably that of Alphonso mango, with a clean flavour that celebrates the fruit in all of its glory. Bold, rich mangoes on the nose move directly onto the palate with ease and delight. Fresh mango skin seems perfectly balanced with the clean wheat vodka to deliver a deeply complex and delightful drinking experience. There is nothing about this that we do not like. Created by British-born Indians, husband-and-wife team, they set out to great a brand that reflected their dual heritage. To make Desi Daru’s Alphonso Mango vodka they start with sourcing the finest Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri, India, celebrated as the “King of Mangoes” for their rich, velvety texture and intensely sweet, aromatic flavour. Their vodka is then made in rural Oxfordshire using the finest English Winter Wheat, known for its super smooth, creamy character. The result is an intensely flavoured vodka with true authentic mango in every sip.

This 3-star win adds to a growing list of accolades for Desi Daru’s Mango Vodka, including World’s Best Flavoured Vodka at the World Drink Awards, an outstanding 99 points at the IWSC, and multiple gold medals across international spirits competitions.
And whilst the spotlight shines on mango, Desi Daru also took home an impressive 2-star award for their Original Vodka. Judges praised the liquid for its elegance, creamy texture and depth of flavour, sharing: “Smooth and elegant, yet retaining an individual character of its own, this has gorgeous undertones of cream soda and vegetal notes. We struggle to see how this could be improved; it is clearly the work of an expert, and we loved every single thing about it. This is a vodka born for a martini.”
