It’s only April and a top contender for 2026’s drink of the summer has been uncovered. With over 2 million views across TikTok and Instagram, a popular supermarket has launched a brand-new Lambrusco Reggiano Secco or sparkling dry red wine, to most people.
The Italian sparkling red is said to have a crisp and dry yet refreshing flavour with violet and berry aromas, making it the perfect tipple for a sunny summer’s day.
Mimi Morley, senior recipe developer at food box provider, HelloFresh, commented: “I’m so excited for this new summer drink. People might have a negative idea of a Lambrusco from the sweet, fruit-flavoured wine of the past, but those days are done.”
Morley continued, “Lambrusco has been rebranded in recent years and this sparkling dry version is sure to be a summer sensation. Conveniently, this wine pairs so well with summer dishes.”
“A Lambrusco Reggiano Secco acts as a natural palette cleanser for rich, salty and fatty foods. So if you’re barbecuing, it’ll go down perfectly,” said Mimi. “It’s also perfect if you’re eating cured meat like salami or prosciutto, ideal for a summer charcuterie board.”
Searches for “Concerto Reggiano Lambrusco” are up by 300% year on year, showing the new drink trend has potential to be big.
Other summer drinks set to be big

The Garibaldi is another Italian drink that’s set to be big. Google searches are up by nearly 30% year on year, showing it’s starting to make some traction.
