East of England Co-op has opened its doors in a Chelmsford commuter hotspot.

The new convenience store can be found opposite Chelmsford station and will be the third store opened this year by the East of England Co-op.

Customers who visit the new food store will find it stocked with lots of ‘on the go’ food options, including a Barista Bar coffee machine, an enhanced in store bakery, fresh iSqueeze orange juice, Fwip ice cream, Shmoo milkshake and Tango Ice Blast and hot food snacks for the 12,300+* busy commuters coming in and out of the city each day.

Tom Brown, branch manager, commented: “We are incredibly excited to be part of the Chelmsford Community, we have been made to feel so welcome. The team and I are looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming all our customers so they can enjoy all we have to offer.”

The store is part of the East of England Co-op’s recent expansion and is the third Food store it has opened in 2023. The largest independent retailer in the East of England, the East of England Co-op’s move into Chelmsford follows its growth into Cambridgeshire earlier this year.

Doug Field OBE, CEO of the East of England Co-op, commented: “This is our third new Food store in the last five months and the store is in a fantastic location just opposite Chelmsford station. We can’t wait to be of service to the commuters making journeys in and out of the area, while also serving members of the local community.”

“While new store openings are always great news for our business, they are also great news for our members and the communities in which our stores are based. We look forward to supporting communities in the area through our Community Cares Fund, our Foodbanks and the other community outreach programmes which are so important to us.”

Information on job vacancies at the Chelmsford store and across the region can be found here.
