Ecommpay launches Global Expansion Guide to help merchants navigate international e-commerce

With the global e-commerce market projected to reach over $8 trillion by 2028, inclusive global payments platform, Ecommpay, has published a comprehensive guide, Unlocking Global Growth: How merchants can seize the future of e-commerce payments. Available as a free download from the Ecommpay website, the guide provides businesses with actionable insights and strategies to navigate the complexities of global e-commerce.

A recent Ecommpay poll revealed that a significant portion of merchants are prioritising or exploring global expansion in 2025:

  • 36% of merchant respondents consider global growth a high priority
  • 45% are currently exploring its potential

Drawing on insights from leading global brands such as Booking.com, Wayfair, Mastercard and Bolt, the guide emphasises the importance of understanding local payment preferences, adapting to cultural nuances and implementing robust fraud prevention measures. It also highlights the role of payment orchestration in streamlining international transactions and optimising the customer experience.

“The global e-commerce landscape presents a wealth of opportunities for merchants, however, capitalising on this potential requires a strategic approach,” said Willem Wellinghoff, chief compliance officer and UK chair, Ecommpay.

“Our new guide, informed by insights from industry leaders, offers practical advice on everything from localising payment methods to navigating regulatory hurdles, empowering businesses to expand with confidence.
