Verified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, the achievement demonstrates that Agua de Madre meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability alongside a commitment to goals beyond shareholder value.
The certification marks a significant milestone in Agua de Madre’s mission to enrich quality of life and inspire Madres to shine, nurturing our guts and community along the way. As a living drink, fermented with care in the UK, Agua de Madre has always aimed to be a force for good – ethical sourcing, minimal waste, and supporting community.
“We are proud to announce Agua de Madre is officially B Corp certified. This is a true ‘pinch me’ moment. As a female founder, I wanted to create a business that would be a force for good – one that supports our team, nourishes communities, and ferments with purpose to enrich our customers quality of life. We are immensely proud of becoming a B Corp, fermenting with purpose – it is a dream realised, joining other brands to be the best for the planet,” said founder Nicola Hart.
As a female founded brand, Agua de Madre is committed to donating 1% of gross profits for woman focused charities, we are a London Living Wage Employer, we are committed to creating high quality products for our customers which means saying no to UPF and artificial colours and flavourings. We also are waste aware and don’t use plastic.
The news comes as the ongoing climate crisis and widening social inequality continue to pose urgent challenges to our economy. B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers impact areas related to practices around governance, workers, community, the environment and customers. The certification process is rigorous, with companies required to provide evidence on performance while legally embedding their commitment to purpose as well as profit in their company articles.
