Co-opAs the festive season approaches, shoppers can get into the spirit with Co-op’s festive food to go range which is set to land in stores next week (30th October).

The leading convenience retailer is partnering with Children’s Charity, Barnardo’s, with an aim to raise £5m to support positive futures for 750,000 young people across the UK. £50,000 from the sales of the Christmas sandwich range will be donated to Barnardo’s as part of the partnership.

Co-op’s core sandwiches and wraps are priced individually at £3.25 and can be purchased as part of a Standard Meal Deal for £3.50 for members (£4.00 for non-members), saving up to £4.40. The premium sandwiches and wraps in the Irresistible range are priced at £3.95 and can be purchased as part of the Premium Meal Deal for members for £5.00 (£5.50 for non-members), saving up to £5.65.

This year, Co-op unveils a deliciously dippable steak wrap and a turkey, truffle, and brie sandwich, both of which will be available in the premium range. Additionally, a festive sub roll will be available in the retailer’s core range, whilst five of its popular sandwiches are also back again this year with quality improvements, including the introduction of ‘umami’ bacon which adds a distinct savoury flavour to each bite.
Rebecca Galloway, food-to-go developer at Co-op, said: “The lead up to the festive season is such an exciting time for us –  the festive sandwich has become part of the Christmas tradition for many of us across the country and we know our members and customers eagerly anticipate picking up a festive lunchtime treat when they pop into our stores.

“We’ve got an extensive range this year, with three new products and we’ve improved the recipes on our five returning favourites to make them more delicious than ever! What’s more, the full range is available in the lunchtime Meal Deal, which is one of the cheapest in the market, to provide added value for our shoppers.”
New this season to the premium range, the Irresistible Peppercorn Steak Wrap with Rosemary Gravy Dip, takes inspiration from the recent sandwich gravy dip trend – bursting with additional flavour and fun to eat! Tender British steak strips, black peppercorn and stuffing mayo, braised red cabbage & crisp spinach in a soft tortilla wrap combined with a rich beef and rosemary dipping pot to ‘dip and dunk’ each mouthfeel in.
Another addition the premium range, the Irresistible Turkey, Truffle & Brie Sandwich, is an unbrie-lievable festive combination which comprises of layers of butter-basted British turkey breast, creamy Brie, smooth cranberry sauce and indulgent truffle mayo with crisp spinach sandwiched between thick malted bread.
A real feast for the tastebuds and new addition to the core range, the Festive Feast Sub Roll features sliced roast British chicken breast, sweetcure smoked bacon and stuffing with rosemary gravy mayo and cranberry sauce in a fluffy semolina-topped sub roll.
Returning favourites from the core sandwich range includes the GRO No Turkey and Spiced Slaw Sandwich which caters to vegans with soft oatmeal bread, herby stuffing gravy mayo, soya pieces, spinach, cranberry sauce, carrot, parsnip, and red cabbage ribbons roasted in fragrant winter spices.

An iconic festive pairing, the Brie & Cranberry Sandwich is also back and offers malted bread with a tasty, seasoned mayo topped with thick creamy French brie slices, crisp spinach and a rich tart cranberry chutney.

No need to wait until Boxing Day to enjoy Christmas leftovers as the Boxing Day Feast Sandwich makes a return and features the best bits from the big dinner. Soft white bread, a rich balsamic onion chutney, topped with shredded smoked British chicken breast, smoky ham slices, and cheesy coleslaw.

Another fan favourite, the Turkey Feast Sandwich includes all the flavours of the most wonderful time of year wedged between two slices of bread. Featuring a savoury onion gravy mayo, topped with herby stuffing, tender British turkey breast slices, strips of smoked umami bacon topped rich cranberry chutney.

Savour the taste of the festive classic Pigs Under Blankets Sandwich which offers an onion mayonnaise, seasoned British pork sausage planks, smoky bacon with umami flavours, and rich balsamic onion chutney inside sliced malted bread.
