Former M&S fshion chief Richard Price co-leads launch of Far Retail Fashion, a new supply chain model for UK retailers

Far Logistics, part of The Cardinal Partnership — the world’s largest employee-owned logistics organisation — has launched Far Retail Fashion, a specialist division designed to help fashion and e-commerce brands regain control of their supply chains.

The new division is co-led by Richard Price MBE, former Managing Director of Clothing & Home at Marks & Spencer, where he led the turnaround of its fashion business, and Alex Blahyj, a director with deep end-to-end supply chain expertise.

Far Retail Fashion introduces a differentiated model that engages far earlier than traditional freight forwarders — at the point a garment is contracted, rather than at the ex-factory stage. By managing raw materials, supplier performance, and critical path execution upstream, the business addresses a key industry issue: up to 70% of margin erosion occurs before goods reach the factory gate.

The approach has been reviewed by Retail Economics, which highlighted its potential to improve margin protection, reduce reliance on emergency airfreight, accelerate speed-to-market, and strengthen supply chain resilience.

Powered by Far’s Leda visibility platform, the model provides end-to-end oversight, enabling retailers to make faster, more informed decisions.

“Retailers don’t lose margin on the water — they lose it before production even begins,” said Richard Price MBE. “By bringing visibility and control to those early stages, we’re helping brands compete more effectively in a highly pressured market.”

As part of an employee-owned group, Far Retail Fashion operates with a partnership-led model focused on long-term value rather than transactional freight services.

The launch comes at a time of heightened pressure for UK fashion retailers, with rising costs, supply chain disruption and intense competition making traditional operating models increasingly unsustainable.

Far Retail Fashion offers a scalable solution that redefines supply chain management — shifting it from a reactive, logistics-led function to a proactive, commercially-driven capability embedded at the earliest stages of product development.
