Today, Frasers Group Asia Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Frasers Group PLC) is announcing a new joint venture agreement with PT. MAP Active Indonesia. The agreement will see the introduction of Sports Direct’s elevated stores across Indonesia and incorporates both wholesale and retail components. The collaboration is the first step in a region-wide expansion between two industry leading corporations in retail.

In collaboration with the world’s leading sports brands, the joint venture will deliver best-in-class product range, value, and experience. With the mission statement of ‘Sport Starts Here’, the stores will feature a dynamic range of sports equipment across all key categories, including Football, Running, Training, Outdoor, Rackets, Swim & Leisure. Set to feature in major retail malls throughout Indonesia, the Sports Direct stores will also include USC, – a leading destination for premium fashion.

For the first time, many global brands owned by Frasers Group PLC, will be available to Indonesian consumers, including Karrimor, Everlast, Lonsdale, Slazenger, USA Pro, Firetrap, Soul Cal and Jack Wills to name a few. With an established history in retail across Malaysia, where FGA already own 35 superstores, this JV marks the first step of regional expansion for Frasers Group Asia, which has its Headquarters in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur.

Frasers Group PLC, which is a FTSE 100 company and a leading retail destination across the UK and Europe, has an iconic collection of retail brands including Sports Direct, FLANNELS, House of Fraser, Gieves & Hawkes, Jack Wills, Sofa.com, Missguided, Evans Cycles, and Everlast gyms.

“As part of our continued international expansion strategy and the success of our existing business in Malaysia, we are excited to grow our Southeast Asian footprint with a presence in Indonesia,” said Michael Murray, Frasers Group CEO.

“Today’s announcement supports our vision to build the planet’s most admired and compelling brand ecosystem”.

Map Active is a retail conglomerate operating in Indonesia and rapidly expanding across the Southeast Asian region, its collaboration with Frasers Group Asia will bring a new dynamic multi-brand shopping experience to Indonesia.

“The Indonesian market offers an exciting opportunity to highlight our brands, to the 4th largest population in the world”, said Paul Gibbons MD of Frasers Group Asia. “We enter this partnership with a long-term view to build the best multi-sport destination which has been a great success in the UK.”
