FUNKIN COCKTAILSIf you still party, know what a meme is, and never utter the words “back in my day”, then you might just be a cool mum, reveals a new survey.

Ahead of Mother’s Day on March 19th, a study of 2,000 Brits discovered the tell-tale signs of a cool mum and found that if you wear clothes that your kids want to steal for themselves, you’re probably one of the cool ones.

The research by FUNKIN COCKTAILS also found that getting to know your child’s friends and heading to festivals, are all characteristics of a cool mum.

Other indications you’re a cool mum include encouraging your kids to pursue their passions and not trying to be too cool.

“It’s wild to think it’s been nearly 20 years since the famous words ‘I’m not like a regular mom, I’m a cool mom’ were uttered in Mean Girls but it means many of us are now becoming Mums ourselves!” says Rosie Crossman at FUNKIN COCKTAILS. “Modern mums are seemingly cooler than ever, and we wanted to dig into those unique quirks and behaviours that define them; whether it be taking a couple of cocktail cans to a festival, keeping up with Love Island or mastering the latest TikTok dances. This Mother’s Day we’re raising a Strawberry Daiquiri to all the cool Mums out there – afternoon teas are for the Burn Book.”

For those looking for some cool mum inspiration, 29% of those who thought the UK has a ‘coolest celebrity Mum’ said that Stacey Solomon takes the top spot and 28% put Holly Willoughby as a close second.

According to those surveyed, understanding slang like dank and boujee, keeping up to date with the latest fashion trends and creating TikTok’s with your kids also made the list.

Other indications of being a cool mum were not accusing your kid of ‘being woke’, not overusing emojis and having tattoos or piercings.

Interestingly, only 9% of people said that watching Love Island over Strictly Come Dancing classifies you as being a cool mum, yet 22% think that listening to the latest music is a key indicator that you’ve met the cool mum standards.
