Gen Z Londoners are opting for premium ice cream bites and frozen snacks over traditional ice cream tubs and lollies, Zap reveals

Zapp, London’s leading premium convenience delivery app, has found that Gen Z Londoners are opting for premium ice cream bites and frozen snacks over traditional ice cream tubs and lollies.

It found:

  • Sales of ice cream minis and frozen snacks/bites on Zapp are up 217% year-on-year, with Gen Z driving demand for elevated frozen treats they’ve spotted on TikTok.

  • Overall ice cream category sales are up 50% year-on-year, boosted by new additions like TruFru and Franui (frozen chocolate-covered fruit).

  • TikTok hashtags like #FrozenSnacks and #MiniIceCream has racked up millions of views.

  • When they treat themselves, they want quality and are willing to pay for it. Our most popular frozen snacks range from £6.99 (TruFru) and £7.99 (Franui) up to £12.99 (Ice Cream Union).

  • Ice Cream Union is now available for 24/7 delivery on Zapp – making it the only option and go-to choice for Gen Z’s midnight heatwave cravings

Tali Lawrence, buyer at Zapp, said:  “We’ve seen a real shift in how Gen Z are snacking this summer – it’s less about traditional tubs and more about frozen snacks and ice-cream bites. TikTok trends like aesthetic freezer restocks, late-night snack drawer videos and viral brands like TruFru have really fuelled this movement. Gen Z are also more health-conscious, so we’re seeing a clear move towards portion-controlled treats that still feel indulgent but fit into a wellness-led lifestyle.”
