Ho Ho Hot! Christmas comes to Evesham during summer heatwave

Families swapped football shirts for Christmas jumpers and festive hats as they embraced the unique summer spectacle, bringing a touch of December magic to one of the hottest weekends of the year.

The popular event transformed The Valley into a festive wonderland, complete with a giant Christmas tree, a live Christmas band performing seasonal favourites, artificial snow showers and appearances from a relaxed Summer Santa, who had traded his sleigh for a well-earned holiday in the sunshine.

Visitors of all ages joined in the fun, enjoying the unusual sight of Christmas celebrations under blue skies and summer temperatures, while supporting the independent retailers, shops and businesses that make The Valley one of the region’s leading shopping and leisure destinations.

The annual event was designed to bring people together, create memorable family experiences and provide an additional boost for retailers during the summer trading period.

Phil Maclean, retail director at The Valley Evesham, said: “Christmas in July has become one of our most popular family events because it’s simply great fun. While the rest of the country has been enjoying football, heatwaves and barbecues, we decided to bring a little Christmas magic to the summer. It was fantastic to see so many families embracing the occasion, from festive jumpers and hats to dancing in the snow and meeting Summer Santa. Events like this create memorable experiences for visitors while also supporting our retailers by encouraging people to spend more time at The Valley and discover everything our businesses have to offer.”

Visitor Alexa Milisic, from Malvern attended with her two sons, said: “It’s such a brilliant idea. The children couldn’t believe they were seeing snow in July and they loved meeting Santa in his summer outfit. We’ve laughed all day and it’s given us something completely different to do. We’ve visited several of the shops while we’ve been here too, so it’s been a perfect family day out.”

The Valley’s Christmas in July event has become a firm favourite in the local calendar, combining festive nostalgia with summer fun and offering a unique shopping experience that attracts visitors from across the region.

With snow falling in July, Christmas music filling the air and Santa enjoying his summer break, the event once again proved that Christmas spirit isn’t just for December.
