Iceland Foods has donated a home delivery van to transport urgent medical supplies to Ukraine’s frontline as part of a humanitarian mission led by The Mighty Convoy.
The van joins the eleventh convoy making the 1,251-mile journey from Teddington to Lviv in Ukraine, where it will be deployed by local military and charity officials.
This latest mission includes two converted ambulances, two pick-up trucks, and a refrigerated Iceland home delivery van, carrying two incubators and other critical medical supplies donated by the Royal London Hospital and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Richard Walker, executive chairman of Iceland Foods, said: “The work being done by The Mighty Convoy and other aid charities is absolutely vital. It’s crucial that those on the front line, including civilians, continue to receive life-saving medical supplies. When I first heard about The Mighty Convoy’s mission and the incredible difference they’re making on the ground, I knew Iceland had to do its part and support this incredible cause.”
“Several medical supplies need to be kept at precise temperatures, and our refrigerated delivery van will ensure these critical supplies get to the people who need them, when they need them most.”
The Mighty Convoy is a not-for-profit company founded by three friends to raise funds to buy second hand Ambulances and 4×4 vehicles, fill them with aid and drive them to Ukraine.
The 11th convoy embarked on is journey on 1st February 2024, driven by five volunteers from Teddington tennis club and is expected to arrive in Lviv within 3 – 4 days of departure.
