Simply Business, one of the UK’s largest small business insurance providers, is launching a nationwide search to discover the UK’s most hilariously named small businesses. Offering a grand prize of £2,500 in cash to the winner, the competition aims to celebrate the creativity, humor, and personality of small business owners across the country. Businesses with pun-tastic titles, witty wordplay, or names that simply bring a smile to people’s faces are encouraged to enter.

The competition’s previous shortlists have included household cleaning service Sweeping Beauty, street food stall Tikka Chance on Me, Easy Lay Landscaping and waste clearance company Lord of the Bins. Businesses can enter the competition via the Simply Business website. Entries close on 16th June 2025.

Last year’s winner, Matt Triboulliard, owner of locksmith Surelock Homes said “I never expected to win and I’m so proud to have won from such an awesome list of business names. Almost on a daily basis a member of the public will make a comment or take a picture of the vehicle and it’s brought in untold amounts of work.”

According to a survey by Simply Business, two in three  consumers say they are more likely to shop at a small business with a funny or witty name, and 65% believe a funny name shows a business is imaginative and original.

Julie Fisher, UK CEO at Simply Business said “We want to make small businesses feel the best about their business, and celebrating a great name can help them achieve that. Customers love a business with a good sense of humour, and we’ve seen some cracking entries over the past few years.

“We’re excited to see the fantastic names that will be entered into this year’s competition, and even more excited to be able to give the winner a chance to improve their business with a cash prize.”
